What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING VARIOUS ROADS IN ROYSTON) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"):-
1. that length of Tannery Drift, Royston from its junction with Green Drift south eastwards to its junction with Baldock Road, a distance of approximately 394m.
An alternative route will be via Green Drift, Kneesworth Street, Baldock Street and Baldock Road or via Baldock Road, Baldock Street, Lower King Street, Kneesworth Street and Green Drift.
2. that length of Mackerel Hall, Royston from its junction with Green Drift south eastwards to its southernmost junction with Cedar Crescent, a distance of approximately 215m.
An alternative route will be via Green Drift, Tannery Drift, Baldock Road, Downlands and Mackerel Hall.
3. that length of Cedar Crescent, Royston from its northernmost junction with Mackerel Hall south westwards for a distance of approximately 20m.
An alternative route will be via Mackerel Hall and Cedar Crescent.
4. that length of Tannery Close, Royston from its junction with Tannery Drift south westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
5. that length of Mallard Road, Royston from its junction with Tannery Drift north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works. The Order is needed because the replacement of existing gas mains is proposed to be executed on or near the Roads. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 22 July 2024 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF GANNOCK LANE, SLIP END/GANNOCK ROAD, SANDON) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using that length of Gannock Lane, Slip End/Gannock Road, Sandon from its junction with A505 Baldock Road south eastwards to its junction with Fears Green, a distance of approximately 4251m ("the length of Roads"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via A505 Baldock Road, B656 Royston Bypass Interchange with Wallington Road, A505 (Baldock Road/Royston Road), the A505 Royston Bypass roundabout, A505 Baldock Road, Therfield Road, Stump Road and Fears Green or via Fears Green, Stump Road, Therfield Road and A505 Baldock Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 22 July 2024 for a period of up to 18 months.
