What is happening?

B6341 BILSMOOR TO THROPTON SHARPERTON
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intend to make an Order to introduce a road closure and speed restriction on the following sections of the B6341 Bilsmoor To Thropton, Sharperton in the County of Northumberland.
The Order is to be effective from the 22nd July 2024 until the 15th January 2025.
Road Closure:
B6341 Bilsmoor To Thropton from its junction with the C179 heading in an easterly direction for a length of 533 metres.
It is expected that the road will only be closed on the 22nd July 2024 between the hours of 07:30 until 17:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 15th January 2025.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the B6341, C172, C176 and vice-versa.
B6341 Bilsmoor To Thropton from outside the front of Grasslees heading in a north easterly direction for a length of 1680 metres. It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 23rd July 2024 until the 26th July 2024 between 07:30 until 17:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 15th January 2025.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the B6341, C187, B6342 and vice- versa.
Speed Restriction:
A speed restriction will furthermore be in operation restricting the speed of all vehicular traffic from 60MPH down to 40MPH on that section of the B6341 Bilsmoor To Thropton from outside the front of Grasslees heading in a north easterly direction for a length of 1680 metres in the County of Northumberland.
It is expected that the speed restriction will be in place from the 23rd July 2024 until the 26th July 2024 between 17:00 until 07:30 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 15th January 2025.

The road closure and speed restriction have been requested by Northumberland County Council to carry out repairs to broken pipes and gullies. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
