Cumberland, Multiple Roads, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Highway Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2053 WHITRIGGLEES, C2042 AND C2043 WHITRIGG, B5302 ABBEYTOWN, B5299 WELTON AND U2008 NEAR WHITRIGGLEES CROSSROADS) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Phased works will not necessarily be done in numerical order. Cumberland Council Highways Service will ensure that local residents and the general public are informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time. The Order will come into operation on 1 July 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. SCHEDULE
EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. C2053 Whitrigglees, C2042 and C2043 near Whitrigg - From 1 July 2024 for approx. 1 week (Ref: TTROC/11099)
Phase 1 - (i) C2053 Whitrigglees, from its junction with the B5307 to its junction with the C2042 Whitrigg; and (ii) C2042 Whitrigg, from its junction with the C2053 to its junction with the C2043.
Phase 2: C2043 near Whitrigg, from its junction with the C2042 to its junction with the U2002. Alternative Routes:
Phase 1: via the unrestricted sections of the C2043, U2002, C2042 Burgh by Sands, A689 and the B5307.
Phase 2: via the U2002 and the C2042.
2. B5302 Abbeytown - From 8 July 2024 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref: TTROC/11061)
From its junction with the B5307 to its junction with Crummock Place.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B5302, A596 Wigton to Aspatria, and the B5301 Aspatria to Silloth.
3. B5299 Welton - From 29 July 2024 for approx. ii days (Ref: TTROC/11063)
From its junction with the B5305, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1.3km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the B5299, A595 and the B5305 Rosley.
4. U2008 near Whitrigglees Crossroads - From 5 August 2024 for approx. 2 days (Ref: TTROC/10938)
From its junction with the B5307, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 100m.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
