What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
GRAVESHAM AREA
A289 WAINSCOTT NORTHERN BYPASS, HIGHAM, ME2 3UG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To enable resurfacing works on the A2 Cobham including road markings, studs and loops replacement. Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Gravesend Road, Higham, on or after 8th July 2024 for up to 19 nights between 20:00hrs and 06:00hrs or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the entry Slip Road from the A226 Gravesend Road to the London Bound Entry Slip on to the A2. The A289 Wainscott Bypass needs to be fully closed to prevent London bound traffic joining the A2.
The A2 WB non-motorway traffic diversion route will be via the A226 Gravesend Road, A226 Rochester Road, A226 East Milton Road, A226 Milton Road, A226 Parrock Road, A226 Lord Street, A226 Windmill Street, A226 Woodville Place, A227 Wrotham Road, A226 Rathmore Road, A226 Darnley Road, A226 Overcliffe, A226 London Road, A226 Thames Way, A2260 Ebbsfleet Gateway, and the A2260 Southfleet Road towards the A2 Springhead Interchange.
A289 WAINSCOTT NORTHERN BYPASS, HIGHAM, ME2 3UG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
Because of National Highways works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A289 Wainscott Northern Bypass, Higham, on or after 27th July 2024 for up to 1 night between 20.00hrs and 06.00hrs or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from A289 slip road to the M2 Coast bound carriageway.
The alternative route is via A226 Gravesend Road, A2 Watling Street.
B261 DOVER ROAD & VALE ROAD, GRAVESEND, DA11 9EP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
Because of gas mains replacement, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of B261 Dover Road and Vale Road, Gravesend.
B261 Dover Road is planned from 22nd July 2024 to 2nd September 2024 and Vale Road is planned from 5th August 2024 to 2nd September 2024
B261 Dover Road will be closed between numbers 145 and 245.
Vale Road will be closed at the junction with Dover Road.
The alternative route for B261 Dover Road is via A226 Thames Way, Springhead Road, B2175 London Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for Vale Road is via A226 Thames Way, Springhead Road and vice versa.
HERMITAGE ROAD, HIGHAM, ME3 7AT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
Because of Southern Water works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Hermitage Road, Higham, on or after 25th July 2024 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside The Post Office.
The alternative route is via School Lane and vice versa.
HEVER COURT ROAD, GRAVESEND, DA12 5EG (30MPH SPEED LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order for a temporary mandatory speed limit of 30mph to be imposed on a section of Hever Court Road, Gravesend on or after 8th July 2024 for up to 19 days between 07.00hrs and 17.00hrs or until the works have been completed.
The 30mph speed limit applies in both directions between numbers 61 and 95, to the extent indicated by signage clearly displayed on site.
MILTON HALL ROAD, GRAVESEND, DA12 1QZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
Because of Southern Water works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Milton Hall Road, Gravesend, on or after 22nd July 2024 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 66.
The alternative route is via Milton Hall Road, Pine Avenue, B261 Old Road East, Milton Avenue, Milton Hall Road and vice versa.
NORWOOD LANE, MEOPHAM, DA13 0YF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2024
Because of a new gas connection, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Norwood Lane, Meopham, on or after 22nd July 2024 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Blackberry Cottage.
The alternative route is via Norwood Lane, A227 Wrotham Road, Green Lane and vice versa.

Because of gas mains replacement by SGN, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic as per the below.
