Castle Street And Port Street - Temporary Road Traffic Restrictions For Bridge Examination And Defect Rectification Works

What is happening?

Manchester City Council Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Section 14 (As Amended)

Notice is hereby given that the City Council intends, in not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s):

ORDER NO. MCC139105278: The City of Manchester (Castle Street, Deansgate Ward)(Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2024 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Castle Street from Duke Street to outside Barca.

The alternative routes for traffic will be: Duke Street, Beaufort Street, Collier Street, Bridgewater Street, Deansgate, Bridgewater Viaduct, Castle Street. The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate a detailed bridge examination.

It is expected that the works will be in progress on the from 23:00hrs on 15th July 2024 and 02:00hrs on 16th July 2024. The order shall come into operation on 15th July 2024 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months.

If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Dated: 1st July 2024.

ORDER NO. MCC000139157301: The City of Manchester (Port Street, Piccadilly Ward)(Temporary No waiting and No Loading) Order 2024 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order is to restrict waiting & loading on Port Street between Hilton Street and Great Ancoats Street. The City Council is satisfied that this restriction is necessary in order to facilitate defect rectification works.

It is expected that the works will be in progress from 15th July 2024 to 19th July 2024. The order shall come into operation on 15th July 2024 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months.

If the restriction ends within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
