York, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Prohibition of Of Pedestrians

What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on the 27" day of June 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2) & (3). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (4), (5), (6), (7), (8) & (9).

(1) PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY NO. 30/1/10. MURTON

This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Public Right Of Way No. 30/1/10, Murton (closed public right of way) due to danger arising from a bridge requiring repairs thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Saturday, 29 June 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Sunday, 29 December 2024 (danger period) or at a time when the danger has been remedied whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure the safety of route users. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will not be signed.

(2) PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY NO. 30/9/10. MURTON

This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Public Right Of Way No. 30/9/10, Murton (closed public right of way) due to danger arising from a bridge requiring repairs thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Saturday, 29 June 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Sunday, 29 December 2024 (danger period) or at a time when the danger has been remedied whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure the safety of route users. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will not be signed.

(3) PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY NO. 3/13/10. STRENSALL

This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Public Right Of Way No. 3/13/10, Strensall (closed public right of way) due to danger arising from a landslip thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Saturday, 29 June 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Sunday, 29 December 2024 (danger period) or at a time when the danger has been remedied whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure the safety of route users. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will not be signed.

(4) HESSAY LEVEL CROSSING. HESSAY

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding through that length of road at Hessay Level Crossing, New Road, Hessay (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2300hrs on Saturday, 06 July 2024 and ending at 0700hrs on Sunday, 07 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Main Street, Atterwith Lane, Marston Lane & A59.

(5) MILLFIELD LANE LEVEL CROSSING. POPPLETON

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding through that length of road at Millfield Lane Level Crossing, Poppleton (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2300hrs on Saturday, 06 July 2024 and ending at 0700hrs on Sunday, 07 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be signed during the works period. Vehicles will be allowed to use the bus gate between Millfield Lane and Low Poppleton Lane, for ingress and egress, without risk of enforcement action, for the works duration only.

(6) MILLFIELD LANE. POPPLETON

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Millfield Lane, Poppleton between locations 470 metres and 574 metres south-east of the junction with Long Ridge Lane (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Monday, 08 July 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Wednesday, 10 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Long Ridge Lane, Station Road, A59, A1237 York Ring Road, Millfield Lane. Cyclists will be diverted via Long Ridge Lane, Station Road, A59, Low Poppleton Lane, Millfield Lane.

(7) SHERIFF HUTTON ROAD. STRENSALL

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Sheriff Hutton Road, Strensall between its junction with The Village and a location 550 metres north of the junction with Pottery Lane (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Monday, 08 July 2024 and ending at 0500hrs on Tuesday, 16 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 2000hrs and 0500hrs each night of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Moxby Lane, York Road, Sutton Road, Wigginton Road, A1237, Strensall Road.

(8) IRWIN AVENUE. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Irwin Avenue, York between its junctions with Malton Avenue and ?odsworth Avenue (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 08 July 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 04 August 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Malton Avenue, Heworth Green, Dodsworth Avenue.

(9) CORBAN LANE. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Corban Lane, York between its junctions with Moor Lane and Corban Lane To Newlands (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Thursday, 11 July 2024 and ending at 1600hrs on Monday, 15 July 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1600hrs each day. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via East Lane, Shipton Road (A19) A1237, Wigginton Road. The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
