What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(RAILWAY ROAD AND CORPORATION STREET, CHORLEY, CHORLEY BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this Order.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of highway in the borough of Chorley;
i. Railway Road, Chorley from its junction with Harpers Lane to its junction with Brock Road.
ii. Corporation Street, Chorley from its junction with Railway Road its junction with Eaves Lane.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The Order will be in force daily from 0800 hours until 1800 hours on Tuesday 25th June 2024 to Tuesday 23rd July 2024 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. - These closures will not be taking place at the same time.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closures will be locally signed.
5. Vehicular access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible and pedestrian access to premises on or adjacent to the road will not be prohibited by any provision of this Order.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow surface dressing works to be carried out.
