What is happening?
SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
(LONG ROW AREA, SOUTH SHIELDS 20 MPH) ORDER 2024
On 5 June 2024 South Tyneside Council made an Order under Section 84 of and Schedule 9
to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order which
comes into operation on 23 June 2024 will reduce the speed limit to 20mph on the entire
length of Long Row, Captains Wharf, Waverly, Broad Landing, Petrel Close, Wellington Drive,
Heron Drive, Albion Court, Lady’s Walk, Claypit Close and access road to 5-39 River Drive,
South Shields. Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be
inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road,
South Shields, NE33 2RL. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from5 June 2024 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
