What is happening?

NORTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
VARIOUS ROADS IN JULY, NORTH TYNESIDE
TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2024

North Tyneside Council gives notice that it has made an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order prohibits all through traffic:

BACKWORTH
1. On Rotary Road (A186) from the junction with Algernon Drive to the junction with Earsdon Road (Southeast bound only).
 An alternate route is available via Station Road, New York Road. On site signage will be available. 
 The temporary Order is required to safely set up site in relation to the construction of a new platform at the Northumberland Park Metro Station and comes into force on 25 July 2024 lasting until 1 April 2025. (Road will only be closed during certain periods of the works, advanced signs will be erected prior to any closures)

KILLINGWORTH
1. On the footpath adjacent to number 20 Swindale Drive.
 An alternate route is available via the footpaths along Swindale Drive, Angus Close.
 The temporary Order is required to renew a fire hydrant and comes into force on 23 July 2024 for a period not exceeding 5 days.

2. On Station Road’s Level Crossing. 
 An alternate route is available via Station Road, Northumbrian Way, Southgate, Great Lime Road, Park Terrace, Moorside, Killingworth Drive and in reverse order.
 The temporary Order is required for level crossing barrier testing and comes into force on 1 July 2024 for a period not exceeding 2 days. Working hours will be from 23:55 - 05:30.

3. On Station Road’s Level Crossing.
 An alternate route is available via Station Road, Northumbrian Way, Southgate, Great Lime Road, Killingworth Drive.
 The temporary Order is required to remove scrap rail and comes into force on 6 July 2024 for a period not exceeding 1 day. Working hours will be from 22:30 until 08:30.

NORTH SHIELDS
1. On Cleveland Road Lane from the junction with Milton Terrace to the junction with Cleveland Avenue. 
 There is no alternative route however access to be given to residents where possible. 
 The temporary Order is required to locate and clear blockages on an existing duct and comes into force on 22 July 2024 for a period not exceeding 5 days.

2. On Lansdowne Terrace Lane from the junction with Hawkeys Lane to behind number 37 Lansdowne Terrace. 
 There is no alternative route however access to be given where possible to residents. 
 The temporary Order is required to install poly ducting within the carriageway and comes into force on 22 July 2024 lasting until the 2 August 2024.

3. On Spring Terrace Lane from the junction with Albion Road to the rear of number 6 Spring Terrace. 
 There is no alternative route as this lane leads to a closed end. Access to be given to residents where possible. 
 The temporary Order is required to locate and excavate a blockage on an existing duct and comes into force on 22 July 2024 for a period not exceeding 5 days.

WALLSEND
1. On Brussels Road Lane from the rear of numbers 51-57. 
 An alternate route is available via Warwick Road, Benton Way North, Brussels Road Lane. 
 The temporary Order is required to carry out sewer works and reinstate and comes into force on 22 July 2024 for a period not exceeding 5 days.

 An alternate route is available via Beech Grove, Laburnum Avenue, Hawthorn Grove Lane. Access to be given to residents where possible. 
 The temporary Order is required to renew a lead water service and comes into force on 29 July 2024 for a period not exceeding 5 days.

WHITLEY BAY
1. On Edwards Road Lane from the junction with Rockcliffe Street to behind number 34 Rockcliffe Street. 
 An alternate route is available via Delaval Road, Edwards Road, Rockcliffe Street.
 The temporary Order is required to renew a lead water service and comes into force on 22 July 2024 for a period not exceeding 5 days.

2. On the footpath adjacent to 12 Cranleigh Place. 
 Alternative routes will be indicated by on site signage. 
 The temporary Order is required for gas replacement works and comes into force on 22 July 2024 lasting until the 23 August 2024.
