What is happening?

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTIONS 14(1) & (7) & 22C (VARIOUS ROADS AND FOOTPATHS IN WEST OXFORDSHIRE) (TEMPORARY CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024

Blenheim & Woodstock Area Footpath closures and road restrictions Date of Order: 3 July 2024 Coming into force: 8 July 2024 This Order is being introduced because of a major event at Blenheim Palace between 8 and 19 July 2024. The order is authorised by the Chief Executive of the Council together with the Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police. For public safety and protection the high security event will be subject of numerous prohibitions and restrictions affecting footpaths and roads as follows:

1. A44, speed reduction from 50 to 40mph from Bladon roundabout into Woodstock town.

2. No driving or waiting and loading - B4437 from the A44 junction to Ditchley Gate continuing west into Stonesfield Road to the junction with Akeman Street and northwest along B4437 to Stonesfield Riding.

3. Langford Lane from the junction with the A44 east to the junction with Evenlode Crescent.

4. No Waiting or loading - A4095 Grove Road, Bladon from Bladon Roundabout to Park Lane, Bladon and Park Lane up to Bladon Gate.

5. Footpath closures - the entire Blenheim Estate and public footpath No.265/36/10 for its full length from the A4260 to the A4095.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and military vehicles and authorised vehicles in support of the event.

Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when and where the measures are in force and the alternative routes will be signed locally.

The relevant part of the Oxfordshire County Council (A44 Oxford to Woodstock Road) (Speed Limits) Order 2023 in respect of the 50mph speed limit on the A44 is temporarily suspended for the duration of this order. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 6 months until the measures associated with the Event have been concluded. (Ref: LW)
