ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14(1)

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2024

HILLGROUNDS ROAD, KEMPSTON 24 – 008

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the length of Hillgrounds Road Kempston 55 - 66. This temporary road closure is required to facilitate resurfacing and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours from 6 July 2024 to 7 July 2024

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Hillgrounds Road, Bedford Road.

The reverse route applies.

NEWTON LANE, TURVEY 24 – 027

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Newton Lane Turvey from High Street Turvey to the Borough boundary. This temporary road closure is required to facilitate carriageway re surfacing and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 18:00 hours from 1st July 2024 to 19th July 2024 The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Newton Lane, Turvey Road, The Row, Church Lane, Clifton Road, Newton Road, Road Between Spring Lane And Newton Road Emberton, Newport Road, Bridge Street, High Street South, Market Place, High Street, Dartmouth Road, Wellingborough Road, Warrington Road, Redway Olne Olney, The Warrington Bypass To County Boundary, Northampton Road, Bedford Road.

The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along St Marys Road Wootton.

This temporary road closure is required to facilitate carriageway re surfacing and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 18:00 hours from 17th July 2024 to 1st August 2024 The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Tithe Barn Road, Church Road, Cause End Road.

The reverse route applies.

The proposed Order will come into operation on 17th July 2024, for a period of 12 months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier. BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE A LOADING BAY IN HIGH STREET, AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN HIGH STREET AND STILEMAN WAY, SHARNBROOK

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request for the provision of a loading bay to assist commercial premises located in the High Street. Parish Councillors have also requested an extension to existing parking restrictions in High Street at the Norman Road junction, and new parking restrictions at the High Street / Stileman Way junction. This is in response to concerns raised over inconsiderate parking at these locations which affects visibility and safety, so these restrictions are intended to remedy that. Effect of the Order:

1. To provide a Loading Bay having a maximum stay of 15 minutes on the following length of road:

A High Street, Sharnbrook

(i)    On its south-western kerb, from a point approx. 30 metres south-east of the centre of Park Lane for a distance of approx. 7 metres in a south-easterly direction.

2. To extend existing and introduce new ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following lengths of roads:

A    High Street, Sharnbrook

(i)    On its north-eastern kerb, from a point approx. 4.5 metres north-west of the projected centre of Normans Road (the end of the existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction) extending for a distance of approx. 17 metres in a southeasterly direction.

(ii)   On its south-western kerb, from the centre of Stileman Way extending for a distance of approx. 13 metres in both a north-westerly and south-easterly direction.

(iii)  On its south-western kerb, from the centre of Normans Road extending for a distance of approx. 13 metres in both a north-westerly and south-easterly direction.

B     Stileman Way, Sharnbrook

(i)    On both sides of the road, from the south-western side of High Street for a distance of approx. 10 metres in a southwesterly direction.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE SOME PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN KEYSOE ROAD AND HIGH STREET, THURLEIGH

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council proposes to introduce parking restrictions at the junction of Keysoe Road and High Street, Thurleigh. The restrictions are deemed necessary to maintain the safety and visibility at the junction for all highway users.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double primrose coloured lines) on the following lengths of roads:

A Keysoe Road, Thurleigh

(i) On both sides, extending from its junction with the High Street for a distance of approx. 18 metres in a northerly direction.

B    High Street, Thurleigh

(i)    On its northern kerb, extending from the centre of Keysoe Road for a distance of approx. 43 metres in a westerly direction, and approx. 19.2 metres in an easterly direction.

(ii)   On its southern kerb, extending from the projected centre of Keysoe Road for a distance of approx. 16 metres in a westerly direction, and approx. 20 metres in an easterly direction.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE NEW PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN LEIGHFIELD CLOSE, NEEDWOOD ROAD AND STAINMORE ROAD, BEDFORD

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request from Ward Councillors for new parking restrictions at the junction of Needwood Road with Stainmore Road, and in Leighfield Close opposite the entrance to a parking area. This is in response to concerns raised over inconsiderate parking at these locations which affects visibility and safety, so these restrictions are intended to remedy that.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following lengths of roads:

A    Leighfield Close, Bedford

(i)    On its western kerb, extending from the projected southern boundary of no.23 Leighfield Close for a distance of approx. 17 metres in a northerly direction.

B    Needwood Road, Bedford

(i)    On its north-eastern kerb, extending from the centre of Stainmore Road for a distance of approx. 14 metres in both a north-westerly direction and south-easterly direction.

C    Stainmore Road, Bedford

(i) On both sides, extending from its junction with Needwood Road for a distance of approx. 12 metres in a north-easterly direction.

The above Order made on 06 June 2024 under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 will divert that length of Public Footpath numbered 85 in the Parish of Bolnhurst & Keysoe in the environs of “Hinton St Mary” commencing from a point approximately 8 metres south-east from the residential dwelling known as “Hinton St Mary” Bolnhurst & Keysoe at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0906/5826 then running in a generally north-north-east direction for approximately 123 metres where it joins the unaffected part of Footpath 85 at OSGR TL 0909/5837 to a point commencing from where it has a junction with that part of the unaffected part of Footpath 85, Bolnhurst & Keysoe approximately 8 metres southeast from the residential dwelling known as “Hinton St Mary” Bolnhurst & Keysoe at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0906/5826 then running in a generally north-east direction for approximately 123 metres where it joins the unaffected part of Footpath 85 at OSGR TL 0909/5837.

The above Order made on 30 May 2024 under Section 119 of the

Highways Act 1980 will divert:-

i.   That length of Public Footpath number 10 Odell commencing from a point where it has a junction with that part of Public Bridleway number 9 Odell to be retained at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 9738/5877 then running in a generally south-west direction for approximately 378 metres to a point where it has a junction with that part of Public Footpath number 11 to be diverted as part of this Order at OSGR TL 9716/5846 and then running in a generally west-south-west direction for approximately 161 metres where it forms a junction with the unaffected part of Footpath 10 at OSGR TL 9703/5837.

ii.  That length of Public Footpath number 11 Odell commencing from a point where it has a junction with that part of Public Footpath number 10 Odell to be diverted as part of this Order at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 9716/5846 then running in a generally south-west direction for approximately 434 metres to a point where it has a junction with that part of the public road known as “High Street,” Odell at OSGR TL 9704/5805

To a route commencing from a point where it has a junction with that part of Public Bridleway number 9 Odell to be retained at OSGR TL 9692/5852 then running in a generally south-east direction for approximately 182 metres to a point where it has a junction with that part of Public Footpath number 10 Odell to be retained at OSGR TL 9703/5837 and then running south-east, west-southwest, south-south-east, west-south-west, south-south-east for approximately 436 metres where it meets the public road known as “High Street,” Odell at OSGR TL 9704/5805. BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (CARLTON & CHELLINGTON: PART OF BRIDLEWAY No. 12) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2022

On 27 March 2024 The Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above Order with modifications made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of the Order as confirmed will divert that length of Public Bridleway number 12 Carlton and Chellington running from a point where it has a junction with the north-western margin of Borough Road C28 “Turvey Road, Carlton” at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) SP 9443/5479 then running a generally northwesterly and westerly direction for 234 metres to a point where it has a junction with that part of Public Bridleway number 12 Carlton and Chellington unaffected by this Order at OSGR SP 9419/5482 to a line running from a point where it has a junction with the western margin of Borough Road C28 “Turvey Road, Carlton” at OSGR SP 9439/5475 then running in a generally west-northwesterly, westerly direction for 225 metres until Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) SP 9420/5479 and then north north west for 27 metres to a point where it has a junction with that part of Public Bridleway number 12 Carlton and Chellington unaffected by this Order at OSGR SP 9419/5482.
