What is happening?

Brighton Grove And Sidney Grove Area

(i) Traffic Regulation (Consolidation) Order 2009 (Brighton Grove and Sidney Grove Area Variation) Order 2024

1. Notice Is Hereby Given that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne propose to make an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 29 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which amends the City of Newcastle upon Tyne Traffic Regulation (Consolidation) Order 2009 (“the Consolidation Order”). Note - the Council are considering making a new Consolidation Order. If the new Consolidation Order is made before the proposed Order, then the proposed Order will become an amendment to the new Consolidation Order.

2. The effect of the proposed Order is to introduce no waiting at any time restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following lengths of road -

(a) Crossley Terrace Back - north side, from Brighton Grove, westwards for 4 metres,

(b) Brighton Grove - west side, from Crossley Terrace Back north eastwards for 47 metres,

(c) Sidney Grove - south side, from Brighton Grove north westwards for 19 metres,

(d) Sidney Grove - north side, from Brighton Grove north westwards for 12 metres,

(e) Back Lane between Brighton Grove and Sidney Grove - both sides, from Brighton Grove northwards for 6 metres.

(ii) Proposed Pedestrian Crossing - Brighton Grove

1. Notice Is Hereby Given that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, in exercise of its powers under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police proposes to establish a pedestrian crossing at the following location -

Zebra Crossing

Brighton Grove - 215 metres south of its junction with Studley Terrace. The crossing is necessary to facilitate pedestrians crossing Brighton Grove.

(iii) Proposed Construction of Road Humps - Sidney Grove and Brighton
Grove Area

1. Notice Is Hereby Given in accordance with Section 90C of the Highways Act 1980 that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne in exercise of its powers under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 proposes to construct road humps complying with the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 in Sidney Grove, Back Lane between Brighton Grove and Sidney Grove and Brighton Grove.

2. The details of the road humps are as follows - Nature - Raised Tables

Locations -
(a) Sidney Grove - 4 metres northwest of Brighton Grove,
(b) Back Lane between Brighton Grove and Sidney Grove - 3.25 metres north of Brighton Grove,
(c) Brighton Grove - 213 metres south of Studley Terrace.

Dimensions -
Width - full width of carriageway
Height - 75mm (top of kerb)

Ramp Gradients
(a) Sidney Grove - 1:10
(b) Back Lane between Brighton Grove and Sidney Grove - 1:10
(c) Brighton Grove - 1:15

Lengths -
(a) Sidney Grove - from 4 metres northwest of its junction with Brighton Grove north westwards for 8 metres
(b) Back Lane between Brighton Grove and Sidney Grove - from 3.25 metres north of its junction with Brighton Grove northwards for 7 metres
(c) Brighton Grove - from 213 metres south of its junction with Studley Terrace southwards for 11 metres.
