What is happening?

BOURNEMOUTH, CHRISTCHURCH AND POOLE COUNCIL TWIN SAILS BRIDGE, POOLE TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council, in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and the Traffic Management Act 2004, has made temporary traffic regulations, with the effects detailed below to control traffic.

WHERE & WHAT: Twin Sails Bridge - bridge and road closed to all vehicles, including cyclists and pedestrians.

WHEN: Commenced Friday 17 May 2024, anticipated date for reopening is Sunday 14 July 2024

WHY: Following a routine inspection further investigation was required and repairs are currently being undertaken.

ACCESS: Rigler Road on the western side of the bridge remains open but can only be accessed from Blandford Road on the Hamworthy side.

DIVERSIONS:

    • Southbound via West Street, Poole Lifting Bridge, Blandford Road

    • Northbound via Blandford Road, Poole Lifting Bridge, West Quay Road

These arrangements may be amended/extended should works overrun or weather conditions delay operations. Restrictions may be in effect under this Order for up to 18 months and could be further extended with the approval of the Secretary of State.

The Council regrets any inconvenience caused by this Traffic Order.
