(TEMPORARY ROADRESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024 – TEMP/24/109
The Council has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate works relating to the redevelopment of Jenners and the temporary relocation of the Airport Bus Terminus, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on Rose St Sth Lane (from Sth St David St to Hanover St), from its eastern jnct with Rose St, southwards for 25m; (b) drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle on Sth St David St, from Rose St to Princes St (except public service vehicles & taxis), otherwise than in a southbound direction; (c) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on both sides of: (i) Sth St David St, from St Andrew Sq (sth leg) to Princes St; (ii) Rose St (from Sth St David St to Hanover St), from Rose St Nth Lane to Sth St David St; & (iii) Rose St Sth Lane (from Sth St David St to Hanover St), from its eastern jnct with Rose St, southwards for 25m; & (d) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on the road described in column 1 of Sch 1 so as to make the prohibited turn specified in column 2 of Sch 1, into the road specified in column 3 of Sch 1 hereto. “The City of Edinburgh Council (Traffic Regulation; Restrictions on Waiting, Loading and Unloading: City Centre) (No.1) Experimental Traffic Order 2024” will be suspended in so far as the prohibition of motor vehicles on Sth St David St & Waverley Bridge are affected by this order. Existing restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of roads described in (c). The alternative route for vehicular traffic with respect to the closure is via Rose St Nth Lane. The alternative route for vehicular traffic with respect to the one-way restriction is via St Andrew Sq, George St, Hanover St, Princes St, The Mound, Nth Bank St, Chambers St, Sth Bridge & Nth Bridge. The alternative routes for vehicular traffic with respect to the prohibitions of turning are via: (i) Meuse Lane – St Andrew Sq & Sth St David St; (ii) Princes St – Nth Bridge, Sth Bridge, Chambers St, Nth Bank St, The Mound, Hanover St, George St, St Andrew Sq & Sth St David St; & (iii) Waverley Bridge – Market St, The Mound, Hanover St, George St, St Andrew Sq, Sth St David St & Princes St. The order shall come into operation on 24/6/24. The City of Edinburgh Council is satisfied that the execution of the works will take in excess of eighteen months.
