The A38 Trunk Road Between Eggington & Burnaston, Derbyshire- Temporary Traffic Restrictions

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTIONS 14(1)(a) AND (7)

THE A38 TRUNK ROAD (BETWEEN EGGINTON AND BURNASTON, DERBYSHIRE)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company no. 9346363) has made an Order on the A38, between Egginton and Burnaston, in the County of Derbyshire,  to allow essential bridge repair and maintenance works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to –

(1)  impose a speed limit of 50 miles per hour on –

(a)  the northbound carriageway of the A38 from the centreline of the A5132 overbridge at Egginton, to the tip of the nosing at its junction with the exit slip road leading to its roundabout junction with Burton Road, Rykneld Road and Staker Lane (Findern Interchange); and

(b)  the southbound carriageway of the A38 from the tip of the nosing at its junction with the entry slip road leading from Findern Interchange, to the centreline of the A5132 overbridge, at Egginton;

(2)  close –

(a)  the northbound carriageway of the A38 from its junction with the exit slip road leading to its roundabout junction with the A50 slip roads, the B5008 and the access/ egress roads leading to and from the Toyota factory (Toyota Island), to the entry slip road leading from Toyota Island; and

(b)  the southbound carriageway of the A38 from its junction with the exit slip road leading to Toyota Island, to its junction with the entry slip road leading from Toyota Island; and

(c)  the layby adjacent to the southbound carriageway of the A38, approximately 770 metres southwest of the entry slip road leading from Findern Interchange.

The work is expected to start on Monday  1 July 2024 and continue for approximately  five months. The carriageway closures will be carried out overnight between 20:00 hours  and 07:00 hours. There will also be two full weekend closures from 20:00 hours on Friday  13 September 2024 to 07:00 hours on Monday 16 September 2024 and from 20:00 hours on Friday 27 September 2024 to 07:00 hours on Monday 30 September 2024. The speed restriction and layby closure will be in operation from 20:00 hours on Monday 1 July 2024, for twenty-four hours per day, for the duration of  the works. The order will come into force on  24 June 2024.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority and ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restriction and closures. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restriction. Vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures.
