Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M2 Motorway and the A2 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is to authorise: -
1. the overnight closure of:-
a) the London-bound carriageway of the M2 and A2 between Junction 2 (A228) and Darenth Interchange (M25 Junction 2);
b) the westbound carriageway of Watling Street (Strood) between its junction with Parkfields and the Sarsen Stone Roundabout;
c) all of the slip roads leading to and from the length of carriageway described in a) above;
d) the fast link road connecting the length of carriageway to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 at Darenth Interchange; and
e) the westbound carriageway of the road leading from Sarsen Stone Roundabout to the length of carriageway described in a) above.
2. the 24-hour closure of all of the lay-bys adjacent to the length of carriageway described in 1.a) above.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, road marking, and all associated works.

It is expected that the work will last for approximately 2 weeks starting on or after Monday 8th July 2024. The overnight closures will take place between 20:00 and 06:00 hours. Please consult our website for further details.

The Order will come into force on 6th July 2024 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Through traffic affected by the closures will be strategically diverted using the A228, M20, and M25. Local traffic requiring access within the closures to reach residences will be permitted under works control.

The temporary closures and diversion signs will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
