Cumberland, Temporary Speed Restrictions Due To Highway Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A595, GOSFORTH, CALDER BRIDGE AND HOLMROOK) (TEMPORARY 30MPH AND 10 MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out ("the Works), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to: -
1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour along the following sections of road:
i) A595 Gosforth, from its junction with the C4023, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 2.32km.
Duration: From 24 June 2024 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref: TTROC/11034)
ii) A595 Calder Bridge, from its junction with the C4013, extending in an overall south easterly direction for approx. 1.41km.
Duration: From 15 July 2024 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTROC/11035)
2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 10 miles per hour along that section of the A595 Holmrook, from a point at the entrance to the business premises known as the Lutwidge Arms Hotel, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 130m.
Duration: From 12 August 2024 for approx. 2 months (Ref: TTROC/11042)
No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 24 June 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
