Dorset Council (Bridleway 1 (part), Winterbourne Abbas to be upgraded to a Restricted Byway) Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2024
The above Order, made on 03 May 2024, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by upgrading Bridleway 1 (part), Winterbourne Abbas, to a Restricted Byway as follows:
Part of Bridleway 1, Winterbourne Abbas:
(To be numbered Restricted Byway 7, Winterbourne Abbas) From its junction with the A35 trunk road in Winterbourne Abbas at SY 6183 9052, north-north-west along a compacted gravel track to SY 6183 9053 north-north-west to SY 6181 9062, north-north-west to SY 6180 9068, continuing west-north-west along the track, past the junction into the Midway Down Business Park, to SY 6178 9069, north-west to SY 6163 9077 at the junction with Footpath 5 and Bridleway 2, continuing north-west along the track, hedged on both sides, to its junction with Bridleway 1 at SY 6072 9139. Width: 12.5 metres at SY 6183 9052, narrowing to 5.5 metres at SY 6183 9053, narrowing to 3 metres at SY 6181 9062, widening to 4 metres at SY 6180 9068; widening to 9.1 metres at SY 6178 9069, continuing at 9.1 metres to SY 6163 9077 at the junction with Footpath 5 and Bridleway 2; continuing at 9.1 metres to SY 6072 9139. Please state the grounds on which they are made. Any letters received will be made available for public inspection.
If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, Dorset Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs may itself confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it. Temporary Traffic Management Order of Old Castle Road, Weymouth
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 24 June 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 15 July 2024. This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out essential footway maintenance works. The effect of the Order will be:
[1] To impose temporary clearway on Old Castle Road between its junctions with Belle Vue Road and Sudan Road to prevent vehicles stopping except those associated with the works
Please note that any vehicle waiting in contravention of temporary parking restrictions may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. If a vehicle has been removed, the owner must contact the Council's vehicle recovery contractor: Ashleywood Recovery Ltd/Bride Valley Recovery Ltd on 01305 889421.

Temporary Closure of St Georges Road, Portland
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along ST GEORGES ROAD, PORTLAND between nos. 14 & 29 St Georges Road, a distance of approximately 100 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on
1 July 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 12 July 2024
This Order will enable Wessex Water, safe access to install new service.
An alternative vehicular route will be signed using: Channel View Road - Station Road - Reforne

Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Winterbourne Steepleton
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 01 July 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 02 August 2024.
This Order will enable Wessex Water, safe access to carry out horizontal directional drilling of a new water main.
The effect of this Order is as follows:
All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along:
STEEPLETON PONDS ROAD between its junction with A35 and its junction with B3159, a distance of approximately 110 metres, from 01 July 2024 until 05 July 2024 between the hours of 1830 and 0700.
C10 between its junction with A35 and its junction with Roman Road, a distance of approximately 590 metres, from 08 July 2024 until 02 August 2024. Dorset Council (Bridleway 8 (part), Cheselbourne and Bridleway 18, Dewlish to be upgraded to Byways Open to All Traffic) Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2020
On 08 April 2024 an Inspector appointed by The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed without modification the above-named order as unopposed.
The effect of the order as confirmed will modify the definitive map and statement for
the area by upgrading Bridleway 8 (part) in the parish of Cheselbourne and Bridleway
18 in the parish of Dewlish to Byways Open to All Traffic as follows:
Bridleway 18, Dewlish:
(To be numbered Byway 18, Dewlish)
The full width of the way from its junction with the county road at Chebbard Gate
at SY 76349842, west along an earth/grass surfaced track, following the parish
boundary, to its junction with Bridleway 8, Cheselbourne (part proposed to be
upgraded) at the Cheselbourne parish boundary at SY 75009859. The width varies
between 6 and 8 metres.

The full width of the way from its junction with the current route of Bridleway 18, Dewlish (proposed to be upgraded) at the Dewlish parish boundary at SY 75009859, west along an earth/grass surfaced track, following the parish boundary to its junction with Bridleway 23, Dewlish at SY 74449847, then north west and west to SY 74109850 and continuing west south west to its junction with Restricted Byway 4, Piddlehinton at the Piddlehinton parish boundary, on the eastern side of Doles Hill Plantation at SY 73939842. Width: 9.14 metres (30 feet as indicated in the Cheselbourne Inclosure Award 1819). A copy of the order as confirmed and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Reception, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester during normal office hours. The order came into effect on 08 April 2024. If any person aggrieved by the Order desires to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act or of any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the Order, you may within six weeks from 13 June 2024, make an application to the High Court. Temporary Closure of Beaulieu Wood, Buckland Newton
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 1st July 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 12 July 2024.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.
The effect of this notice is as follows:
[1] To impose temporary road closure on Beaulieu Wood, Buckland Newton from the junction with B3143 to Brockhampton (in both directions), a distance of approximately 2270 metres. Locally signed diversion routes will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections. Please note the closures will be in operation, as and when indicated by signs on site. Advanced warning signs will be placed on the road two weeks advance of the closure to indicate the exact dates the closure will affect the roads.
[2] To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along Beaulieu Wood, Buckland Newton from the junction with B3143 to Brockhampton (in both directions), a distance of approximately 2270 metres. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
