Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

Adisham Downs Road, Woodlands Road & Bossington Road, Adisham.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2024

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Adisham Downs Road, Woodlands Road & Bossington Road, Adisham, from 10th July 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 08.00 and 16.00, or until the works have been completed.

​Adisham Downs Road will be closed between Flybridge Cottages and The Old Rectory, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Pond Hill, Station Road, B2046 Adisham Road, High Street, A257 Canterbury Road, Wingham Road, High Street, Bekesbourne Lane, Station Road, School Lane, Chalkpit Hill, Adisham Road and vice versa.

Woodlands Road will be closed between The Street and New Woodlands Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Woodlands Road, Woodlands Lane, Poor Start Lane, Bramling Road, Adisham Downs Road, Pond Hill, The Street and vice versa.

Bossington Road will be closed between Bramling Downs Road and the railway line, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Pond Hill, Bramling Downs Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Bekesbourne Road, Bridge & Bifrons Hill, Patrixbourne & High Street, Bridge.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & WAITING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2024

To allow full deck refurbishment works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bekesbourne Road, Bridge & Bifrons Hill, Patrixbourne.

Closures are planned over 2 weekends:-

Weekend 1 - from 20.00 hours on 12th July 2024, with estimated completion by 06.00 hours on 15th July 2024 – full weekend closure

Weekend 2 - from 20.00 hours until 06.00 hours on 19th, 20th and 22nd July 2024, with estimated completion by 06.00 hours on 22nd July 2024, or until the works have been completed.

Bekesbourne Road, Bridge & Bifrons Hill, Patrixbourne will be closed between Upper Lodge and the A2 Bridge offslip, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site. The waiting restrictions will apply only when the road closure is in place and appropriate signage and no waiting cones are deployed.

Waiting will be prohibited on High Street, Bridge from outside number 22 to the junction with Western Avenue to allow diverted traffic to flow smoothly.

The alternative routes for any through traffic, avoiding the weight restriction on Patrixbourne Road are as follows:-

Eastbound traffic is via A2050 Dover Road Bridge, New Dover Road, A257 Lower Chantry Lane, Longport, St Martin’s Hill, Littlebourne Road, Canterbury Road, The Hill, High Street, Littlebourne, Bekesbourne Lane and Station Road.

Westbound traffic is via Station Road, Bekesbourne Lane, A257 High Street, Littlebourne, The Hill, Canterbury Road, Littlebourne Road, St Martin’s Hill, Longport, A2050 New Dover Road, Dover Road, A2 Bridge onslip, A2 from junction A2050 to junction A260, Coldharbour offslip, Coldharbour Lane, Bonny Bush Hill, Bridge Hill, High Street Bridge and Dover Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Chitty Lane, Chislet, CT3 4DX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2024

To allow replacement pole works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Chitty Lane, Chislet, on or after 27th June 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Church Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Chitty Lane, Church Lane and vice versa.

​Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Herne Bay Race for Life 2024.​ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF PARKING BAYS) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2024

To allow the Herne Bay Race for Life Event to be held, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on various roads in Herne Bay, on 30th June 2024, for up to one day, between the hours of 10.15 and 11.30, or until the event has been completed.

The following roads will be closed on 30th June 2024, between the hours of 10:15 and 11.30, with closures lifted as soon as it is safe to do so:-

•  Hampton Pier Avenue, Herne Bay - closed between the junctions with West Cliff Drive and Western Esplanade.

•  Western Esplanade, Herne Bay - closed from the junction with Hampton Pier Avenue to the junction with Harcourt Drive.

•  Chamberlain Drive, Herne Bay - closed at its junction with Hampton Pier Avenue.

•  West Cliff Drive, Herne Bay - closed at its junction with Hampton Pier Avenue.

•  Swalecliffe Avenue, Herne Bay - closed from its junction with Hampton Pier Avenue up to the Car Park entrance.

It will be necessary to impose temporary parking suspensions on Hampton Pier Avenue, Herne Bay from its junction with West Cliff Drive to the junction with Western Esplanade, and on Western Esplanade from its junction with Hampton Pier Avenue to its junction with Harcourt Drive.

The parking restrictions will be imposed from Saturday 29th June 2024 at 18.00 hours until Sunday 30th June 2024 at 12.30 hours.

 

Owls Hatch Road (North), Greenhill.​ (PROHIBITION OF PARKING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2024

To facilitate development works, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting parking on part of Owls Hatch Road (North), Greenhill, on or after 24th June 2024, with estimated completion by 22nd July 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The parking suspension on Owls Hatch Road (North) will be in place from the junction of Bullockstone Road, both sides of the road, to the extent indicated by the access barrier/gate.

 

The Bridge Approach, Whitstable, CT5 1SR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2024

To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Bridge Approach, Whitstable, on or after 11th July 2024, with estimated completion by 12th July 2024, between the hours of 09.00 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 6, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via The Bridge Approach, Old Bridge Road, Millstrood Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Church Street, Castle Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
