A606, Melton Road, Hickling Pastures - Temporary Speed Limit
What is happening?
THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(A606, MELTON ROAD, HICKLING PASTURES) (TEMPORARY SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2024 (R24-142)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order, under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, in respect of roads at Hickling Pastures in the Borough of Rushcliffe.
The effects of the Order will be:
1. No vehicle shall proceed at a speed exceeding 40miles per hour in the following length of road:- A606, Melton Road, Hickling Pastures - From its junction with the A606 Widmerpool Roundabout to a point 650m Southeast of its junction with Bridgegate Lane
2. No vehicle shall proceed at a speed exceeding 10miles per hour in the following length of road:- A606, Melton Road, Hickling Pastures - From a point 50m Southeast of its junction with Bridgegate Lane for 1100m in a Northwest direction.
a) No prohibition, restriction or prescription contained in this Notice shall apply to any vehicle:
i. being used for Police, Fire & Rescue Service or Ambulance purposes
ii. proceeding at the direction, or with the permission of, a police constable
b) The effects of any
i. Order made, or having effect as if made, by the Secretary of State under Section 88 of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(hereinafter referred to as “the Act”), or
ii. Statutory provision under Sections 81 and 82 of the Act, or
iii. (Order made, or having effect as if made, by the Council under Sections 82, 83 and 84 of the Act: are hereby temporarily suspended (for so long as this present Notice is enforced) insofar as they relate to any length or lengths of road specified in this Notice.
c) No speed limit imposed by this Notice applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with Regulation 3(5) of those Regulations for all speed restriction.
d) For so long as, and to the extent that, traffic signs (authorised under the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions in force on the date this Notice is made) indicating the effect of the prohibitions contained in this Notice are placed, that prohibition shall be enforced.
In this Order “works” means works being carried out by or on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to resurface the road.
IT IS INTENDED that the prohibitions respecting the above road or roads will apply as follows:
From 20:00 hours on Monday 24th June 2024
Until 06:00 hours on Friday 5th July 2024
The Order will come into force on Monday 24th January 2024 and any prohibition in it shall apply on that day and any subsequent day when necessary to enable works to be carried out. The Order shall continue in force until the works are completed (within a maximum period of 18 months).
