What is happening?

(Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2024 Camp Koko

Somerset Council made the above Order in exercise of the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as previously advertised on the 30th day of May 2024, to introduce temporary traffic restrictions as specified in the Schedules to this Order.

The Order shall come into operation on the 13th day of June 2024 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The Order will be made to facilitate “Camp Koko” and is in the interest of public safety.

All restrictions will be signed and staffed and will remain in force only for as long as is necessary. Exemptions will be made in the Order for Emergency Service vehicles only.

The Order shall come into operation on the 13th day of June 2024 and will remain in force for eighteen months. A copy of the draft Traffic Regulation Order and the associated plans can be examined at www.somerset.gov.uk/TRO.

Schedule 1

Temporary 20mph Speed Restriction Between 0001 hours on Tuesday the 25th of June 2024 until 2000 hours on Monday the 1st of July 2024

Higher Westholme Road, Shepton Mallet - From its junction with Perridge Lane in a south easterly direction for a distance of 260 metres

Pilton Road, Shepton Mallet - From its junction with Perridge Lane in a north westerly direction for a distance of 610 metres

Perridge Hill, Shepton Mallet - From its junction with Higher Westholme Road in a south westerly direction for a distance of 20 metres

Perridge Lane, Shepton Mallet - From its junction with Pilton Road in a northerly direction for a distance of 200 metres

Schedule 2

Temporary Closure of Footpaths, Bridleways and Restricted Byway
The following public highway shall be closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic from 0001 hours on Thursday 20th of June 2024 to 2359 hours on Wednesday 3rd of July 2024:

Public Footpath SM16/21 from Higher Westholme Road to Perridge Hill as designated on the Definitive Footpath Map for Somerset for its entire length.

Statement of reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works
