What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (Public Footpath Framfield 65a and Uckfield 38) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2024

To protect public safety during a housing development, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpaths:

Temporary Footpath Closure

The whole of Public Footpath Framfield 65a will be closed to all users between TQ 4830 1954 and TQ 4832 1960.

The whole of Public Footpath Uckfield 38 will be closed to all users between TQ 4824 1934 and TQ 4830 1954.

Unfortunately, there is no alternative route.

The closure will be in force for 6 months from 1 July 2024, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpaths still be unavailable to use.

The East Sussex (U7909 Greenwoods Lane, Punnetts Town) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Greenwoods Lane – for its entire length. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 1 July 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 3 July 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5852 Dorothy Avenue North, Peacehaven) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Dorothy Avenue North – from the junction with U5852 Southview Road to the junction with U5935 Firle Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5935 Firle Road – U5852 Bramber Avenue North – U5852 Southview Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 1 July 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 3 July 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C411 Saltmarsh Lane, Hailsham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Saltmarsh Lane – from the junction with C411 Downash Road to the junction with B2104 Ersham Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2104 Ersham Road – A295 South Road, George Street – C411 Station Road, Downash Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 2 July 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 2 and 3 July 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C11 Hadlow Down Road, Crowborough) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Hadlow Down Road – from the junction with U7578 Steep Road to the junction with C483 Fordbrook Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C483 Fordbrook Hill, Burnt Oak Road, Alice Bright Lane – C11 Fermor Road, Walshes Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 4 July 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. The East Sussex (U6906 Willingford Lane, Burwash/Brightling) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024 No.2

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Willingford Lane – from the junction with A265 Heathfield Road to the junction with C212 Perrymans Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C212 Perrymans Lane, Kings Hill Road, School Hill – A265 High Street, Heathfield Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 3 July 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 3 and 5 July 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5119 Rotten Row, Lewes) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Rotten Row – from the junction with U5119 Antioch Street to the junction with U5119 St Pancras Road. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic westbound via U5119 St Pancras Road, Grange Road – U5122 Southover Road – B2193 Station Road, Station Street – A277 High Street – U5119 Rotten Row & eastbound via A277 High Street, Western Road – C7 Winterbourne Hollow, Bell Lane – B2193 Southover High Street – U5119 Grange Road, St Pancras Road, Rotten Row.

The Order commences 1 July 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 5 July 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C718 Old Swan Lane, Hailsham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow J&G Traffic Ltd to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Old Swan Lane – at the junction with C411 Station Road for a distance of 50 metres.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic AntiClockwise via C718 Old Swan Lane, Mill Road, Market Street, Market Square – A295 George Street – C411 Station Road and Clockwise via C411 Station Road – A295 George Street, North Street, High Street – C718 Market Square, Market Street, Mill Road, Old Swan Lane.

The Order commences 1 July 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 July and 16 August 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

The Village – from the junction with A27 Lewes Road to Friars.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 17 June 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 17 and 21 June 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Langtye Lane – from the junction with C13 Mill Lane to the junction with C207 The Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C13 Mill Lane – C331 The Street, Church Lane – C207 Poundfield Lane, Langtye Lane and vice versa.

The Order commenced 13 May 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 20 and 21 June 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C407 Yew Tree Lane, Rotherfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Yew Tree Lane – from the junction with A267 Tunbridge Wells Road to the junction with B2100 Catts Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2100 Catts Hill – A267 Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 15 June 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 15 and 16 June 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5110 Valence Road, Lewes) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024 To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Valence Road – from no. 75 Valence Road to no. 15 Nevill Road.

The East Sussex (U5470 Saxon Lane, Seaford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

The East Sussex (C402 Hurstwood Road, High Hurstwood, Buxted) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Hurstwood Road – from the junction with A272 Station Road to the junction with C402 Chillies Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with alternative routes for through traffic via C402 Chillies Lane – A26 Uckfield Road, Five Ash Down, Mill Pond Road – A272 Budletts Lane, Buxted Road, Lephams Bridge Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 20 June 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 20 and 21 June 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Station Road – from the junction with U5995 Woodgate Meadow to the junction with P5739 North Barnes Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with alternative routes for through traffic via Diversion A: C110 Station Road – C6 South Road, Green Road – B2112 Ditchling Road, Common Lane, North End, High Street – B2116 Lewes Road, Ditchling Road – C110 Plumpton Lane, Station Road and vice versa, and Diversion B: C110 Station Road – C6 South Road – C323 Honeypot Lane, Mill Lane – A275 South Road, Resting Oak Hill, Cooksbridge Road – B2116 Ditchling Road – C110 Plumpton Lane, Station Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 20 June 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 20 June 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Church Road – from the junction with B2100 Rotherfield Road to the junction with B2101 High Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2100 Rotherfield Road – C11 Western Road, Walshes Road, Fermor Road – C254 Hurtis Hill, Sheep Plain – A26 Beacon Road, Uckfield Road, Mill Pond Road – A272 Budletts Lane, Buxted Road, Station Road, High Street, Pound Green, Curtains Hill, Main Road, Summer Hill – A267 Mayfield Road, Wellbrook Hill, Mayfield bypass, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill – B2101 Bicycle Arms Road, High Cross, Mayfield Road, South Street, High Street and vice versa.

The Order commences 17 June 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 20:00hrs to 06:00 on 17 and 18 June 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C7 Newhaven Road, Kingston/Swanborough/Iford/Northease/Rodmell) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Newhaven Road – from the junction with C324 Wellgreen Lane to the junction with U5051 The Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic southbound via C324 Wellgreen Lane, Ashcombe Lane – A27(T) Lewes bypass, Ranscombe Hill – A26(T) Newhaven Road, Beddingham Road, New Road – A259 The Drove, B&Q roundabout, The Drove, South Way, Lewes Road – C7 Lewes Road, Newhaven Road & northbound via C7 Newhaven Road, Lewes Road – A259 Northway, The Drove – A26(T) New Road, Beddingham Road, Newhaven Road – A27(T) Ranscombe Hill, Lewes bypass – C324 Ashcombe Lane, Wellgreen Lane.

The Order commences 17 June 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 17 and 24 June 2024 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (Love Supreme Festival, Glynde) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2024

To facilitate the safety of participants, organisers and the travelling public attending the Love Supreme Festival in Glynde, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily impose restrictions in the following lengths of road:-

Temporary Prohibition of Left Hand Turn

No vehicle shall be permitted to turn left onto C113 New Road from Glyndebourne.

Temporary One-Way Traffic

C325 Moor Lane – restricting traffic travelling westbound from the junction of U5664 Neaves Lane to the junction of C113 New Road.

Temporary 20 mph Speed Limit

C113 The Street/Lacys Hill/ Bishops Walk/New Road – from its junction with U5665 Ranscombe Lane to the entrance to Glyndebourne.

C325 Moor Lane – from the junction with C113 New Road to the junction with U5664 Neaves Lane.

Temporary Prohibition of Waiting

C325 Moor Lane – from the junction with C113 New Road to the junction with U5664 Neaves Lane.

C113 Bishops Walk/Lacys Hill/The Street/Station Road – from the junction with C113 New Road to the national speed limit sign.

C113 New Road – from the junction with C325 Moor Lane to the entrance to Glyndebourne.

U5665 Ranscombe Lane – from the junction with C113 The Street south-westwards for a distance of 200 metres.

Temporary Road Closure

C325 Moor Lane – at the junction of U5644 Neaves Lane (no access to the event).

The Order will be in force from 06.00hrs on 4 July 2024 to 15.00hrs on 8 July 2024.

The East Sussex (London to Brighton Bike Ride)  (Special Event) Order 2024

To enable the British Heart Foundation to hold the

London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday 16 June 2024, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 16 A to C of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily bring into force the following restrictions:-

Route to be followed

No person shall cause or permit any vehicle that is not participating in, or connected with the London to Brighton Bike Ride to proceed in, exit from, or turn into any of the lengths of road specified below, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform or that of a uniformed marshal who will be responsible for regulating the traffic flow:-

Restrictions will be in place from 06:00hrs to 20:00hrs on Sunday 16 June 2024.

Temporary One-Way Traffic Southbound

B2112 Fox Hill/Ditchling Road (locally known as Luncies Hill) – closed to northbound traffic from the border with West Sussex, south to the Folders Lane roundabout.

Diversion for northbound traffic via A273 Brighton Road, A273 London Road, A273 Issac’s Lane, then onto the A272.

Temporary Road Closures

B2112 Common Lane, Ditchling – from the junction with B2113 Folders Lane roundabout through Ditchling village leading into C203 Beacon Road/Ditchling Road, to the C5060 junction with C4500 Carden Avenue (Old Boat Corner), Brighton.

Further, to prohibit traffic from exiting from side roads onto the B2112 and C203 – U5241 South View, Orchard Lane, Dumbrells Court, C656 East End Lane, U5651 Church Lane, B2116 West Street, B2116 Lewes Road, B2112 Clayton Road, U5652 Nevill Cottages, U5682 Long Park Corner & U5240 Underhill Lane (west and east) will be closed.

Alternative route via C4500 Carden Avenue – Brighton & Hove bypass – A23(T) London Road – A273 Clayton Hill – B2112 New Road – C306 Lodge Lane – B2116 Keymer Road – C306 Ockley Lane/Keymer Road – B2113 Folders Lane, in both directions.

C6 Green Road, Wivelsfield – at the junction of the B2112 at the mini roundabout.

Diversion for northbound traffic on B2112 Ditchling Road/Fox Hill via C322 North Common Road – B2183 Beggars Wood Road then onto the A272 & southbound traffic via C6 South Road – C71 St Helena Lane – C71 Folders Lane East.

Temporary Prescribed Route – Ahead Only

B2112 Ditchling Road – at the Folders Lane roundabout junction with B2113 Folders Lane and Folders Lane East, eastbound and westbound traffic will have no right turn and no left turn in force.

Eastbound traffic travelling north on the B2112 will be diverted via Keymer Road & then north on the A273 Brighton Road.

Westbound traffic travelling north on the B2112 will be diverted via Folders Lane, south on Keymer Road – Ockley Lane – Keymer Road West to the A273, then north on the A273 to the A272.

Vehicles travelling north on Streat Lane will be diverted via St Helena Lane – South Road – North Common Road – Beggars Wood Road & the A272.

Vehicles travelling north on Plumpton Lane/Station Road will be diverted via South Road & then onto North Common Road.

Temporary Prohibition of Waiting

B2116 Lewes Road, Ditchling – south side – from the termination point of the No Waiting “At Any Time” restrictions at the eastern boundary of No.2 Lewes Road, eastwards to a point outside of Hob Cottage opposite the entrance to The Bull car park, a distance of 19 metres. This is required to maintain a free flow of traffic for cyclists and motor vehicles.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Access by emergency vehicles will not be affected.
