Durham, Temporary Road Closures Due To Refurbishment Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (North and South Bailey, Durham City) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024
The Council on 7/6/2024 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 419 metre length of North Bailey and South Bailey, Durham City from St Johns College Bowes House to the junction with Owengate, Durham City to enable floorscape refurbishment works to be undertaken.
Throughout the period of closure, an alternative diversion to vehicular traffic will not be available.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 17/6/2024 and are anticipated to be completed in 8 months. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
