Suffolk, Multiple Temporary Road/Footpath Closures and Traffic Restrictions.
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14
TEMPORARY CLOSURE, SUSPENSION OF 7.5 TONNE WEIGHT RESTRICTION
AND PROHIBITION OF WAITING ON PART OF THE A137 WHERSTEAD ROAD,
B1456 THE STRAND, B1113 HIGH STREET AND BRAMFORD ROAD,
A1156 FELIXSTOWE ROAD, BISHOPS HILL AND FORE HAMLET,
A137 HAWES STREET AND B1113 LORAINE WAY, IPSWICH, WHERSTEAD,
SPROUGHTON AND BRAMFORD
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the:
ROAD CLOSURE:
• A137 Wherstead Road, Ipswich from the roundabout with Virginia Street to the Al37 from the Strand to the roundabout with Ipswich Road.
FOOTWAY CLOSURE:
• A137 Wherstead Road, Ipswich from the Caravan Park from Wherstead Road southbound to the roundabout with the A137 from The Strand to Ipswich Road, Wherstead
• A137 from The Strand to Ipswich Road, Wherstead from Wherstead Road for 13 metres south westbound and from opposite Wherstead Road to The Strand, Wherstead
• B1456 The Strand, Wherstead from the A137 from The Strand to Ipswich Road, Wherstead to the crossing point opposite the footbridge alongside Bourne Bridge, Ipswich.
This Is to facilitate abnormal load movements between Ipswich Docks and Bullen Lane, Bramford. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists when safe passage allows.
The diversion routes will be:
ROAD CLOSURE: the A137, the A14, the A1189, the A1156, the A1022, the A137 and vice versa.
FOOTWAY CLOSURE: The Strand, the footbridge alongside Bourne Bridge, Wherstead Road and vice versa.
For the duration of this closure, there will be a prohibition of waiting in the:
• B1113 High Street, Sproughton
• B1113 Bramford Road, Sproughton
• B1113 Loraine Way, Bramford from Bramford Road, Sproughton to Bullen Lane, Bramford.
For the duration of this closure there will also be a Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction on the:
Sproughton
• B1113 High Street, Sproughton
• B1113 Bramford Road. Sproughton from High Street, Sproughton for 15 metres northbound.
Ipswich
• A1156 Felixstowe Road, Ipswich
• A1156 Bishops Hill, Ipswich
• A1156 Fore Hamlet, Ipswich
• A137 Hawes Street, Ipswich.
It is intended that these measures will operate as follows:

29/06/2024 - 30/06/2024 - full weekend
06/07/2024 - 07/07/2024 - full weekend
13/07/2024 -14/07/2024 - full weekend.
Footway closure
22/06/2024 -14/07/2024.
Prohibition of waiting
23/06/2024 from 6am - 10pm
30/06/2024 from 6am - 10pm
07/07/2024 from 6am - 10pm
14/07/2024 from 6am - 10pm.
