What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 
HENLEY-ON-THAMES REGATTA 
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS ORDER 2024
Date of order: 24/06/2024 
Coming into force: 02/07/2024
This Order is being introduced in the interests of public safety whilst the 
Henley Regatta is in progress from 2 July to 7 July inclusive.
The effect of the Order, when appropriate signage is in place is to temporarily 
restrict motor vehicles in the following roads:
1. Prohibition of driving between 9am and 11pm:
over Henley Bridge, and (b) in *Thames Side from its junction with Hart 
Street to its junction with Friday Street; (Please note: The closure of Henley 
Bridge and Thameside will be for short intermittent periods only for crowd 
& safety reasons. Access will be maintained at all other times) 
2. No Waiting, No Loading, No Unloading at any time in: (a) Deanfield Avenue; 
(b) Paradise Road from its junction with Gravel Hill to Deanfield Avenue; (c)
The Fairmile for a distance of 400 metres north-westwards from a point 
125 metres from its junction with Leicester Close; (d) Pearce`s Orchard;
3. No Waiting between 6am and 9pm in Thames Side – from Hart Street 
to Friday Street;
4. No Waiting, No Loading, No Unloading at any time Greys Road between 
Duke Street and Deanfield Avenue;
5. No Left Turn into Thames Side from Henley Bridge;
6. Hart Street one-way traffic eastwards for all traffic (should it be required 
for safety reasons by Thames Valley Police).
There will be exemptions for access, for emergency service vehicles and 
emergency works to roads, utilities or services where appropriate.
The alternative route for vehicles affected by the closure of Thames Side and 
no left turn into Thames Side will be via Hart Street, Market Place, Gravel Hill, 
Paradise Road, Deanfield Avenue, Greys Road, Reading Road and Station 
Road.
The relevant provisions The Oxfordshire County Council (Various Roads –
South Oxfordshire) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Permitted 
Parking) Order 2008 shall temporarily be suspended insofar as it permits 
waiting in the lengths of road specified in this Order.
