NATIONAL HIGHWAYS
A27 TRUNK ROAD
(WARBLINGTON TO LANGSTONE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A27 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under
Sections 14(1)(a) and 15(4)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order would be to: -
1. authorise the overnight and weekend closure of both carriageways of the A27 between Warblington Interchange (A259) and Langstone
Interchange (A3024/B2149), and all slip roads leading to and from these lengths of carriageway.
2. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed limit on –
(a) the eastbound carriageway of the A27 between a point 253 metres west of the exit slip road at Langstone Interchange (A3024/B2149) and a point 190 metres east of the A259 underbridge at Warblington Interchange (A259); and
(b) the westbound carriageway of the A27 between a point 650 metres west of the entry slip road at Emsworth Services and a point 400 metres west of the exit slip road at Langstone Interchange (A3024/B2149).
3. impose 24-hour narrow lanes of 3.25 metres in lane 1 and 2.75 metres in lane 2 on –
(a) the eastbound carriageway of the A27 between a point 400 metres east of the exit slip road at Langstone Interchange (A3024/B2149) and a point 300 metres east of the exit slip road at Warblington Interchange (A259); and
(b) the westbound carriageway of the A27
between a point 230 metres west of the exit slip road at Warblington Interchange (A259) and a point 300 metres west of the exit slip road at Langstone Interchange (A3024/B2149).
4. Suspend the weight restriction on Emsworth Road and Southleigh Road to enable it to be used as a diversion route.
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge, barrier and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately 2 months starting on or after Monday 8th July 2024. The overnight closures would take
place between 21:00 and 06:00 and the weekend closures would take place between 21:00 on Fridays and 06:00 on Mondays (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on 6th July 2024 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted by using Emsworth Road, Southleigh Road, B2148, Bartons Road and the B2149.
The temporary speed limit, narrow lanes, closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
