What is happening?

(WEST AREA BARNES PARK) (CLOSURE AND RESTRICTIONS)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024

Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 12th June 2024 it made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect will be to prohibit all motor vehicles (except valid permit holders, police, ambulance and fire and rescue vehicles, vehicles used in connection with the said event) from Barnes View, Mount Road South Back for their entire lengths, Colchester Terrace between Mount Road and South Back and Barnes View, Farnham Terrace between Mount Road and Barnes View. Prohibit motor vehicles from waiting and loading/unloading at any time from Barnes Park Road both sides, between Durham Road and Mount Road, Ettrick Grove both sides, from its junction with Durham Road, for a distance of 90.0 metres in a northerly direction and Ettrick Grove east side, from a point 25m north of its junction with Barnes View in a southerly direction for 140m. The Order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to traffic congestion and conflict between vehicles and pedestrians in connection with the event. The Order will come into force at 06:00 a.m. on 27th June 2024 and will cease to have effect at 11:59 p.m. on 29th June 2024. The prohibitions and restrictions shall apply only at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the road closures on Barnes View, access will be maintained for residents using a parking permit system. Permit holders will be allowed entry and egress during the hours of the event.
