What is happening?

EAST AYRSHIRE COUNCIL
(A759 Dundonald Road, Kilmarnock - Town Centre) (Temporary Road Closure & Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2024

On 11th June 2024 the Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on it under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (East Ayrshire Council) Designation Order 2012 and the Road Traffic Act 1991 and of all other enabling powers, made the above-named Order to allow Carriageway Resurfacing.

Temporary Road Closure – A759 Dundonald Road, Kilmarnock - Town Centre, 900m from Gargieston Primary School through to South Hamilton Street.

Westmoor Crescent, Mount Avenue and Holmes Road junctions adjacent to Dundonald Road.

No Waiting At Any Time - A759 Dundonald Road, Kilmarnock - Town Centre, 900m from Gargieston Primary School through to South Hamilton Street both sides of road.

Westmoor Crescent, Mount Avenue and Holmes Road junctions adjacent to Dundonald Road both sides of road.

The Order commences on 01 July 2024 and has a maximum duration of 18 months or until the works are completed, whichever is earlier. The works are expected to commence from 01 July 2024 at 08:00 until 14 July 2024 at 18:00.

The works will be carried out in two phases.

Phase 1 - Gargieston Primary School to Galrigside Road
Phase 2 - Galrigside Road to junction South Hamilton Street.

The road is expected to be closed between 08:00 and 18:00 each day with it being open out-with these times.

The days and times of the works may be dependent upon the weather conditions but the Order will be implemented only when the appropriate signs are displayed.

Emergency Services access will not be affected and access for residents, deliveries and pedestrians’ out-with the working zone will be maintained whenever possible and safe to do so.

An alternative route will be signed via South Hamilton Street, Irvine Road, B7081, A759, Dundonald Road and vice versa. Local diversions will also be signed accordingly as phases of works progress.

(Temporary Speed Limit) Order 2024

On 11th June 2024 the Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on it under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers,made the above-named Order, which imposes a variable speed limit on the lengths of roads listed below. The speed limit will only come into effect when speed limit signs denoting the reduced speed limit in accordance with Diagram 670 of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, as amended, are displayed on the affected length of road, on the grounds of works being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road.

No person shall drive a motor vehicle on any affected length of road at a speed exceeding that denoted by the temporary speed limit signs displayed in accordance with Diagram 670.

The Order commences from 03 July 2024 at 00:01 and will remain in operation until 02 January 2026 at 23:59.
