William Street Area - Temporary Prohitibion of driving order
What is happening?
SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
(WILLIAM STREET AREA, HEBBURN 20 MPH) ORDER 2024
On 5 June 2024 South Tyneside Council made an Order under Section 84 of and Schedule 9
to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order which
comes into operation on 16 June 2024 will reduce the speed limit to 20mph on the entire
length of William St, William St West, North Back Cuthbert St, South Back Cuthbert St,
Cosserat Place, Prince Consort Lane, unnamed road south back of William St, unnamed road
west back of 2a-10 Caledonian St and unnamed road rear of Lyon St and William St. Albert
St from its junction with Argyle St for 31m. Albert St from its junction with Lyon St for 23m.
Ellison St from its junction with Argyle St for 95m. Unnamed road from a point 50m from the
junction with Argyle St to its junction with Albert St. Unnamed road from its junction Prince
Consort Rd for 20m to its junction with Prince Consort Lane. Unnamed road south back Lyon
St from its junction with William St West and Albert St and unnamed road from its junction
with Cosserat Place and Caledonian St.
Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of
road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be
inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road,
South Shields, NE33 2RL. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 5 June 2024 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
