What is happening?
THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
D4016 Bury Street, Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 05 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and (7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:- a) Prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of D4016 Bury Street, Guildford that extends from its junction with D4015 High Street, to its junction with D4016 Millmead Terrace.
Alternative route:- Portsmouth Road, Bury Fields, Millmead Terrace and Bury Street. b) Suspend “The Guildford Traffic Regulation Order 1965” as amended and (ii) “The County Council of Surrey Buryfields Guildford (Cycle Lane) (No. 1) Traffic Order 1998” insofar as impose the existing one way systems for traffic in D4016 Bury Fields and D4016 Bury Street, Guildford. This Traffic Order is required by Crangy Construction Services Limited to enable water mains connection and/or maintenance works on behalf of Thames Water. These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8am and 5pm on weekdays, and 8am and 1pm on Saturdays, within 10 days of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 10 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure which is anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency vehicles, residents, businesses, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times.
Almners Road (D3005) Chertsey Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2024
On 05 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Almners Road (D3005) Chertsey as extends from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No. 194. Almners Lane to a point in line with the western boundary of No. 200 Almners Lane; (b) suspend “The Surrey County Council Almners Road (D3005) Chertsey Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in sub-paragraph (a) above; and (c) suspend “The Surrey County Council Almners Road (D3005) Chertsey Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2023” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in sub-paragraph (a) above. Alternative Route – Almners Lane; Lyne Lane; Lyne Crossing Road; and Almners Lane.
The Order is required to allow new drainage and/or sewerage connection works and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of Blaze Construction Ltd within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible over 12 days between the hours of 7.30am and 5.30pm within the 12-month period of operation of the Temporary Order that commences on 17 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access for residents within the closure area will be maintained when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route. All other traffic including emergency service vehicles will be required to use the signed diversion route.
Church Street (D3283) Staines-Upon-Thames Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 5 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Church Street (D3283) Staines-Upon- Thames which extends from its junction with Vicarage Road (D3284) to the southeastern property boundary line of “136 Church Street”.
Alternative Route – Church Street (D3283) and Wraysbury Road (B376) or the same route in reverse. This Order is required to allow BT Openreach to carry out telecom works, which is anticipated to be completed within 3 days, between 9:30am and 3:30pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 17 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency vehicles, residents, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Heath Road (D6861) Leatherhead Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 05 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Heath Road (D6861) Leatherhead that is crossed under the bridge known as “Warren Lane (Steer Lane) Bridge” NGL15/10 and for a distance of 20 metres either side.
Alternative Route: Heath Road, (B280) Fairoak Lane, and (A244) Warren Lane, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate bridge inspection works for, or on behalf of Network Rail. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 night, between the hours of 9pm and 5am within the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 18 June 2024.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. No sole access
will be affected by this closure.
Park Barn Drive (D4001) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 05 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Park Barn Drive (D4001) Guildford as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (D4001) Southway and (D4001) Egerton Road to its junction with (D4000) Cabell Road. Alternative Route: (D4001) Southway, (A323) Aldershot Road, (C15) Broad Street, (D956) Broadacres, and (D956) Wood Rise, or this route in reverse.
This Order is required to facilitate service pipe replacement works for, or on behalf of Affinity Water. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 days, between the hours of 8am and 4pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 17 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.
The Street (C40) West Horsley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.3) 2024
On 05 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of The Street (C40) West Horsley as extends from its junction with (D251) Pincott Lane to its junction with (D252) Cranmore Lane. Alternative Route: The Street, East Lane, (B2039) Ockham Road North, (B2039) Ockham Road South, (A246) Guildford Road, (A246) Epsom Road, and The Street, or this route in reverse.
This Order is required to facilitate utility works for, or on behalf of Road Traffic Solutions. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 5 days between the hours of 8am and 5pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 17 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.
Green Road (D3176) Thorpe Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 05 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Green Road (D3176) Thorpe as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (B388) Thorpe By-pass and (B388) Mill House Lane to its junction with (D3176) Bourne Meadow. Alternative Route: Green Road, Village Road, Ten Acre Lane, and (B388) Thorpe By-pass, or this route in reverse.
This Order is required to facilitate mains sewer repair works for, or on behalf of Thames Water. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 2 weeks, between the hours of 7am and 11pm, Monday to Friday only, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 17 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time, under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period.
Hogspudding Lane (D185) Rudwick Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 05 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Hogspudding Lane (D185) Rudwick as extends from its junction with the access to the property known as “Great Inholms” to its junction with the access to the property known as “Hogspudding Farmhouse”. Alternative Route: Hogspudding Lane, Baynards Lane, (B2128) Cox Green, (B2128) Church Street, (A281) Guildford Road, Cooks Hill, and Knowle Lane, or this route in reverse.
This Order is required to carry out vegetation clearance works for, or on behalf of UKPN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day, between the hours of 9am and 4pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 17 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to maintain vehicular access through the closure, and all vehicular traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.
A244 Lammas Lane, Esher Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 5 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of A244 Lammas Lane, Esher (a) which extends from its junction with Church Street to its junction with the circulatory carriageway comprised within the roundabout situated at or adjacent to the junctions of X16220 Drake Close, A244 Lammas Lane and D6890 West End Lane; and (b) which comprises the entire length of the circulatory carriageway comprised within the roundabout situated at or adjacent to the junctions of X16220 Drake Close, A244 Lammas Lane and D6890 West End Lane.
This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate carriageway surfacing works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 10 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period.
Alternative Route 1 – Esher Road, Hersham By Pass, Queens Road, Seven Hills Road, Byfleet Road,Portsmouth Road, Stony Hill, Portsmouth Road and Church Street. Alternative Route 2 – Esher Green, High Street (Esher), Portsmouth Road, Stony Hill, Portsmouth Road, Byfleet Road, Seven Hills Road, Queens Road, Hersham By pass and Esher Road.
D3247 Dudley Road, Ashford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 5 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of D3247 Dudley Road, Ashford which extends from its junction with Clarendon Road to its junction with Chesterfield Road. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate carriageway surfacing works and/ or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 10 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

D216 Northcote Lane, Shamley Green Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
On 05 June 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of D216 Northcote Lane, Shamley Green. This Traffic Order is required to enable Ben Nicholson Tree Services to carry out tree safety and/or maintenance works. These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 9am and 4pm, within 2 days of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 10 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, businesses, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times.
Alternative route:- Cranleigh Road, The Street, Wonersh Common, Blackheath Lane and Littleheath Lane.
Woodbridge Road (A25) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the following lengths of Woodbridge Road (A25) Guildford: (a) that length of the two eastbound straight ahead only lanes as extend from a point 100 metres west of their junction at the traffic lights with (A322) Woodbridge Road and (D4005) Europa Park Road to their junctions at the traffic lights with (A322) Woodbridge Road and (D4005) Europa Park Road; (b) that length of the eastbound left hand turn only lane as extends from a point 100 metres west of the junction at the traffic lights with (A322) Woodbridge Road and (D4005) Europa Park Road to its junction with (D4005) Europa Park Road; (c) the entire length of the bus gate leading to the traffic lights at the junction with (A322) Woodbridge Road; and (d) that length of the nearside eastbound right turn only lane as extends from a point 100 metres west of their junction at the traffic lights with (A322) Woodbridge Road and (D4005) Europa Park Road to their junctions at the traffic lights with (A322) Woodbridge Road and (D4005) Europa Park Road. Alternative Routes: (1) A25 Ladymead (eastbound); A25 Parkway (eastbound); A3100 London Road Roundabout; A25 Parkway (westbound); and A25 Ladymead (westbound). (2) via A322 Woodbridge Road (southbound); Roundabout; A322 Woodbridge Road (northbound) and A25 Ladymead or D4005 Europa Park Road. This Order, which will commence on 01 July 2024 for a period of 18 months is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, to be carried out by or on behalf of Surrey County Council, including but not limited to: footway/cycle path widening works and/or traffic island modification works and/or signalised crossing installation works and/or any other associated works. Works are anticipated to be completed within 14 weeks of this 18-month Order. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures, which are anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.
Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route.
Fort Road (D4015) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Fort Road (D4015) Guildford as extends from its access to the property boundary line of No.29 Fort Road to its access with the footpath leading to the “Pewley Down Nature Reserve”. This Order is required to facilitate safe access to the building site entrance for, or on behalf of C Curtis Building Ltd. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 15 weeks, between the hours of 7.30am and 4.30pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 01 July 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
Access for emergency services vehicles will be maintained, in an emergency situation only. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained via one side of the footpath along Fort Road. It will not be possible to maintain vehicular access for residents and businesses. No sole access will be affected by this closure. There is no diversion route for this closure.
Pewley Hill (D4015) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Pewley Hill (D4015) Guildford. This Order is required to facilitate utility works, for or on behalf of UKPN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 5 days, between the hours of 8am and 6pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 01 July 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, via road plates, if necessary, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists. There is no alternative route for this closure.
Guildford Street (D3040) Chertsey Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of; (a) Guildford Street (D3040) Chertsey as extends from its junction with (D3010) Riversdale Close to its junction with (B375) Windsor Street and (B375) London Street; (b) Suspend “The Surrey County Council Guildford Street (D3040) Chertsey Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024” insofar as it affects the lengths of road specified in part (a) of this Notice. Alternative Route: (B375) London Street and (B375) Heriot Road, or this route in reverse.
This Order is required to facilitate sewer cleaning works for, or on behalf of Lanes Group PLC. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 2 nights, between the hours of 10pm and 5.30am within 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 02 July 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.
Various Roads in the Borough of Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.8) 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 of the Act the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the length of roads described in the Schedule to this Notice.
This Order is required to facilitate highways improvement and/or maintenance/and/or pedestrian phased traffic signal works for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible, between the hours of 7pm and 7am within the 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 01 July 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained via the diversion route. No sole access is affected by this closure. Schedule: (i) that length of South Street (B3001) Farnham as extends from its junction with (A31) Farnham By-pass to its junction with (A287) Union Road. Alternative Route: (A31) Farnham By-pass, (B3228) Guildford Road, (B3228) East Street, (D3228) Dogflud Way, (B3228) East Street, and (A287) South Street. (ii) the entire length of Victoria Road (D5335) Farnham. Alternative Route: (A287) Downing Street, (A287) The Borough, and (B3001) South Street. (iii) that length of Upper South View (D5336) Farnham as extends from its junction with (D5336) Lower South View to its junction with (D5336) High Park Road. Alternative Route: (D5336) Upper South View, (D5336) St Cross Road, and (D5336) Beaufort Road.
Knowle Lane (D184) Cranleigh Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of; (a) Knowle Lane (D184) Cranleigh as extends from its junction with (B2128) High Street to its junction with ((D183) Wildwood Lane; and (b) Suspend “The Surrey County Council Various Roads in Waverley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.6) 2023” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in Part (a) of this Notice. Alternative Route: Wildwood Lane, (A281) Guildford Road, (A281) Horsham Road, (B2130) Elmbridge Road, (B2128) The Common, and (B2128) High Street, or this route in reverse.
This Order is required to facilitate underground utility works for, or on behalf of BT Openreach. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 2 days, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm during 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 03 July 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.
Guildford Town Centre Races (Temporary Traffic Measures) Order 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 16A and 16B of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), for the purpose of holding a road cycling event, namely the Guildford Town Centre Races, organised by the Charlotteville Cycling Club. The effect of the Order is to impose the following temporary restrictions:
(1) Prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding along the lengths of roads in Guildford specified in the Schedule to this Notice (including the junctions linking such roads). Such restriction shall also apply in relation to equestrians and to the leading or driving of horses or any other animals; and (2) Suspend that part of “The County Council of Surrey (Guildford) (Traffic Regulation) Order 1987” (as amended) that imposes a one-way system of traffic (northbound) on Market Street (D4004) and a one-way system of traffic (north westbound) on High Street (A3100), Guildford. The Order will not apply to any pedal cycle or other vehicle being used in connection with; and will come into effect on 03 July 2024 for a period of one day, but the prohibitions and suspensions will only be operative while the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf displays the relevant traffic signs and is anticipated to apply from 12pm until 10pm.
The Council are satisfied that, in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road to which this Order relates, or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising, vehicular access to and from premises along the lengths of roads described in the Schedule to this Notice will not be permitted but controlled access for pedestrians and the emergency services will be maintained at all times. Emergency access for organisations responsible for dealing with the loss of supplies of gas electricity water or electronic communications apparatus to premises in the area and for the removal of any obstruction to traffic will also be maintained. The Council are also satisfied, in accordance with subsection (3) of Section 16A of the Act, that the event to which the Order relates cannot be held otherwise than on a road. Traffic will be diverted via North Street, Woodbridge Road, Onslow Street, York Road, and London Road as appropriate. A copy of the Order together with a plan showing the lengths of roads to which the Order relates may be viewed at Guildford Library, 77 North Street, Guildford, Surrey GU1 4AL, during normal opening hours.
