What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(HARBOUR LANE, WHEELTON, CHORLEY BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this Order.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Harbour Lane, Wheelton from its junction with School Lane to its junction with Blackburn New Road.
2. Nothing in this Order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The Order will be in force daily from 0800 hours until 1800 hours on Monday 24th June 2024 to Sunday 21st July 2024 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closures will be locally signed.
5. Vehicular access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible and pedestrian access to premises on or adjacent to the road will not be prohibited by any provision of this Order.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow surface dressing works to be carried out by LCC Highways.
