CITY OF YORK COUNCIL THE YORK (BISHTHORPE) (SPEED LIMIT EXPERIMENTAL) TRAFFIC ORDER 2024 NOTICE OF MAKING
Notice is hereby given that on the 6th day of June 2024 City of York Council ("the Council') in exercise of powers under Section 9, 10 and Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act") and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of police in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Act, made The York (Bishopthorpe) (Speed Limit Experimental) Traffic Order 2024 ("the Order") which comes into effect on 14"1 day of June 2024 for an experimental period of 18 months ending on 15th day of December 2025 amends The York Speed Limit Order 2014 (or any replacement thereof) by:
Introducing a 20 miles per hour speed limit in Acaster Lane between its junction with Main Street and a point 60 metre north from the projected southern property boundary line of Bridge Farm, Acaster Lane, Appleton Court, Appleton Road between a point 18 metres north of the northern kerbline Maple Avenue and the projected southern property boundary of No. 48 Bridge Road, Beech Avenue, Beech Court, Bishopthorpe Road between its junction with Main Street and the Parish boundary, Bridge Road, Cannons Court, Chantry Lane, Church Lane between its junction with Bishopthorpe Road and a point 168 metres east from the projected eastern kerbline of Sim Balk Lane, Coda Avenue, Coggan Way, Copmanthorpe Lane from the western property boundary line of No. 18 Copmanthorpe Lane west for the remainder of its length, De Gray Place, Deans Close, Drummond View, Ferry Lane, Garbett Way, Harcourt Close, Hardgraves Mews, Keble Close, Keble Drive, Keble Gardens, Keble Park Crescent, Keble Park North, Keble Park South, Lamplugh Crescent, Lang Road, Maclagan Road, Main Street between its eastern kerbline with Acaster Lane and a point 24 metres east of the said line, Maple Avenue, Melton Drive, Montague Road, Myrtle Avenue, Neville Drive, New Lane, Newlands Road, Ramsey Avenue, Sargent Avenue, Sim Balk Lane between the projected northern property boundary line of No 25 Sim Balk Lane and a point 198 metres north west from the projected centreline of Church Lane, Temple Road, The Coppice, The Orchard, Vernon Close and Wolsey Drive, Bishopthorpe, thereby revoking the existing statutory 30 mph speed limit from within those lengths of roads.
The council will be considering, in due course, whether the provisions of this Experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely.
Any person wishing to object to the indefinite continuation of the Order must state their grounds for objection in writing to the Director of Place, West Offices, Station Rise, York, YO1 6GA, so that the objection is received by no later than the 15th day of December 2024.
A copy of the Order, statement of reasons for making it and map showing the lengths of road affected may be inspected at the City of York Council Reception at West Offices, Station Rise, York, YOl 6GA during normal business hours. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended or that a requirement of any regulations thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the commencement date of the Order, make application for that purpose to the High Court.
