Cumberland, Temporary Speed Restrictions Due To Highway Works

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (B5302 WIGTON TO ABBEYTOWN AND B5300 MARYPORT TO SILLOTH) (TEMPORARY 40 MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out ("the Works), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour along the following sections of road: -

(i) B5302 Wigton from its junction with the A596, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 2km; and

(ii) B5302 Waverbridge to Abbeytown from a point approx 700m west of its junction with the C2050, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 4.7km.

Duration: From 10 June 2024 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref: TTROC/11205)

(iii) B5300 Maryport to Allonby from its junction with the A596, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 6.2km; and

(iv) B5300 Allonby to Beckfoot from a point approx. 330m north of its junction with Moss Lane, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 5.4km; and

(v) B5300 Beckfoot to Blitterlees from its junction with the U2340, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1.5km.

Duration: From 1 July 2024 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref: TTROC/11273)

N.B. Existing 30mph and 40mph speed restrictions remain in force. No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 10 June 2024 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as stated above and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
