THE A43 TRUNK ROAD (BRACKLEY TO TOWCESTER, WEST

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE) (SILVERSTONE BRITISH GRAND PRIX)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)  ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company

No. 9346363) intends to make an Order on the A43 Trunk Road between Brackley and Towcester in the County of West Northamptonshire, to allow for traffic to travel in safety to and from the Silverstone Racing Circuit for the British Grand Prix.

The effect of the Order, will be to –

(1)   impose a 50 miles per hour speed limit on –

(a)  the northbound carriageway of the A43 from a point 60 metres southwest of the centreline of the junction with the unnamed road leading to Radstone, Brackley, to its junction with Brackley Road near Towcester (Abthorpe Roundabout);

(b)  the southbound carriageway of the A43 from its junction with Abthorpe Roundabout, to a point 490 metres northeast of the centreline of its junction with The Avenue, at Whitfield; and

(c)  any slip road or link road leading to or from the lengths of the A43 described in (a) and (b) above;

(2)   close the northbound and southbound carriageways of the A43 between its junction with Abthorpe Roundabout, and its roundabout junction with Northampton Road, at Brackley (Northampton Road Roundabout);

(3)   close the northbound and southbound carriageways of the A43 between the junction with Abthorpe Roundabout, and the roundabout junction with Towcester Road and the A5, at Towcester (Towcester Roundabout);

(4)   close the northbound and southbound carriageways of the A43 between the roundabout junction with the A422 Buckingham Road at Brackley (Buckingham Road Roundabout), and the junction with Northampton Road Roundabout;

(5)   close any slip road or link road leading to or from the lengths of the A43 described in (2), (3) and (4) above;

(6)   close any layby, except for emergency use, adjacent to the lengths of the A43 described in (2), (3) and (4) above;

(7)   close any gap in the central reservation of the lengths of the A43 described in (2), (3) and (4) above;

(8)   reverse the flow of traffic on –

i)   the northbound carriageway of the A43 from its junction with the entry slip road leading from the B4525 at Syresham, to its junction with Abthorpe Roundabout;

ii)  the southbound carriageway of the A43 from its junction with Abthorpe Roundabout, to its junction with the exit slip road leading to the dumbbell roundabout junction with the B4525 at Syresham;

iii)  the link road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A43, to Brackley Road at Silverstone;

iv) the exit slip road leading from the southbound carriageway of the

A43, to the roundabout junction with the A413 Dadford Road at

Silverstone (Dadford Road Roundabout);

v)  the entry slip road leading to the southbound carriageway of the

A43, from Dadford Road Roundabout; and vi) the link road leading from the southbound carriageway of the A43, to its junction with the A413 near Wood Burcote;

(9)   prohibit any vehicle with an operating weight exceeding 7.5 tonnes from entering or proceeding in –

i)   the northbound carriageway of the A43 from its junction with the exit slip road leading to the B4525 at Syresham, to its junction with the entry slip road leading from the A413 Dadford Road at

Silverstone; ii) the length of the A43 described in (8) (ii) above;

iii)  the link roads and slips roads described in (8) (iii), (iv), (v) and (vi) above; and

iv) the link road leading to the northbound carriageway of the A43, from Main Road at Syresham;

(10)  prohibit any vehicle from waiting on the verge adjacent to the lengths of the A43 described in (2), (3) and (4) above.

(11)  prohibit any vehicle from entering or leaving the lengths of the A43 described in (2), (3) and (4) above at the junction with any side road.

The traffic safety measures as indicated by traffic signs will commence at 06:00 hours on Sunday 30 June 2024 and end at 23:59 hours on Thursday 11 July 2024. The Order will come into force on Monday 24 June 2024.

Any vehicle being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions, weight restriction, closures and prohibitions. Special forces vehicles will be exempt from the speed restrictions.
