What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991
SCHEDULE I - SECTION 14 (1) (A)
VARIOUS ROADS - TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC
I. The Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea hereby give notice that to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and other highway related works they intend to make an order the effect of which will be to temporarily close to vehicular traffic or impose other restrictions on vehicular traffic in the sections of the streets as listed in paragraph II below except for access purposes where practicable. In addition, the alternative routes are also shown.
II. The works in the following streets will be carried out between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm on Saturdays or weekdays, 9.00 am and 6.00 pm on Sundays or 8.00 pm and 5 am at nights, although the roads may be closed earlier to prevent build-up of vehicular traffic. It will be Metropolitan Police requirement, which will determine whether the closures should occur on weekdays or weekends or at nights. Each scheme will require between two or three days to complete. Directly affected residents will be given advance notice of commencement date of the works and closure as well as the likely duration of works.

For North East - Pimlico Road A3214, Buckingham Palace Road A3214, Grosvenor Gardens A3215, Grosvenor Gardens A3217, Eaton Square A3217, Cliveden Place A3217 and Sloane Square A3216
III. To facilitate the works being carried out the Order will ban waiting at any time in the sections of carriageway specified above whilst the works are being carried out.
IV. The Order will come into effect on 10th June and under the provisions of the above-mentioned Act will continue in force until such time as the works are completed. It is anticipated the works will be undertaken and completed within eighteen months.
V. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden.
VI. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to any vehicle being used in connection with the said works.
