What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (ROWLANDS GILL - VARIOUS LOCATIONS) (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & FOOTPATH) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2024 

Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will introduce temporary prohibitions for vehicles and pedestrians as set out in the Schedule below. The Order is required to facilitate works being carried out by Avonline to upgrade telecoms apparatus. It is proposed that the Order will come into force on the 17 June 2024. The maximum duration of the Order will be 18 months, (6 months for the footpath closures), however the works are expected to be completed by the 30 September 2024. During the prohibition there will be an exemption for vehicles associated with the works and emergency service vehicles on duty only. During the works period there will be signed diversion in pace

Road in an easterly direction for a distance of 80 metres
Unnamed access road -
33m east of Rowlands

from its junction with Smailes 
Lane in a southerly direction for a distance of 5 metres
Lintzford Close  from its junction with the A694 
Lintzford Road in a south easterly direction for a distance of 10 metres
Item 2 - Footpath Closure
Stoker Terrace from Stoker Terrace to School Lane 
for its entire length
