What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on the 30th day of May 2024 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7) & (8). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (9), (10), (11), (12) & (13).

(1) HOLGATE ROAD. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Holgate Road, York on the northeastern side of Holgate Road, adjacent to the north-western boundary of property No. 154 and between the projected south-western and north-eastern boundaries of said property, leading in to the old Holgate Works Canteen Building (closed road) during the period when demolition and subsequent development works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Friday, 31 May 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Saturday, 01 November 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. No alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

(2) NORTH LANE. HAXBY

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on North Lane, York between its junction with Station Road and a location 35 metres north of said junction (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Saturday, 01 June 2024 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 02 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the 'ONE WAY' direction of traffic flow in North Lane is suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said road. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1800hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via The Village.

(3) YORK ROAD LEVEL CROSSING. HAXBY

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road at York Road Level Crossing, Haxby (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Sunday, 02 June 2024 and ending at 0500hrs on Sunday, 02 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Haxby Road, York Road, The Village, Mill Lane, Wigginton Road, A1237.

(4) ELVINGTON LANE. DUNNINGTON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Elvington Lane, Dunnington between its junctions with Common Lane and Elvington Lane To Clock Farm And Grimston Grange (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Monday, 03 June 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Tuesday, 11 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the works will only take place between 1830hrs and 0200hrs each night of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Elvington Lane, Main Street, Common Lane, Hagg Lane, General Lane, A163, A19, A64.

(5) CONNAUGHT WAY & LINDEN CLOSE. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Connaught Way & Linden Close, York (i) on Connaught Way between its junction with Strensall Road and a location 18 metres north-west of said junction and (ii) on Linden Close between its junction with Strensall Road and a location 39 metres west of said junction (closed roads) during the period when gas network works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 03 June 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 21 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Strensall Road, Abbots Gate, Kingsclere.

(6) THANET ROAD. YORK

This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footway on Thanet Road, York between its junctions with the entrance roads to Acorn ARL Sports & Social Club and York & District Indoor Bowls Club (closed footway) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Monday, 03 June 2024 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 07 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period.

(7) HIGH PETERGATE. LOW PETERGATE & GRAPE LANE. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of footway on High Petergate, Low Petergate and Grape Lane, York (i) on High Petergate between its junction with Stonegate and a location 10 metres north-west of said junction and (ii) on Low Petergate between its junction with Stonegate and the projected south-eastern boundary of property No. 89 and (iii) on Grape Lane between its junction with Low Petergate and a location 10 metres south-west of said junction (closed footways) during the period when footway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1030hrs on Monday, 03 June 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 21 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the footways will only be closed between 1030hrs and 1700 hrs each day of the works period and the works will be done in phases. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period.

(8) AVENUE TERRACE & AVENUE ROAD. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Avenue Terrace & Avenue Road, York (i) on Avenue Terrace between the projected north-eastern boundaries of property No's 7 and 35 and (ii) on Avenue Road between its junction with Burton Stone Lane and the projected south-eastern boundary of property No.1 (closed roads) during the period when highway drainage works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 03 June 2024 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 28 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Clifton, Burton Stone Lane.

(9) BOOTHAM LEVEL CROSSING. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding through the Bootham Level Crossing on Wigginton Road, York (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2330hrs on Saturday, 08 June 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Sunday, 09 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Wigginton Road, A1237, Haxby Road, Link Road.

(10) NAVIGATION ROAD. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Navigation Road, York between its junction with Foss Islands Road and a location 40 metres southwest of said junction (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Monday, 10 June 2024 and ending at 0500hrs on Monday, 17 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the 'ONE WAY direction of traffic flow in Navigation Road between the junction with Rosemary Place and a location 50 metres north of said junction is suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said road and all on-street parking on the northern side of Navigation Road between locations 40 metres and 113 metres south-west of the junction with Foss Islands Road (restricted road) will be suspended for the works period only. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 1900hrs and 0500hrs each night of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Foss Islands Road, Barbican Road, Paragon Street, Fishergate, Tower Street, Piccadilly, Lead Mill Lane, Hope Street.

(11) STATION ROAD LEVEL CROSSING. POPPLETON

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Station Road Level Crossing, Poppleton (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2300hrs on Monday, 10 June 2024 and ending at 0625hrs on Friday, 14 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 2300hrs and 0625hrs each night of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via The Green, Hodgson Lane, A59.

(12) PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO 1/2/20. COPMANTHORPE

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of public right of way on Public Footpath No 1/2/20, Copmanthorpe between its junctions with Fletcher's Croft and Ploughmans Close and a location approximately 15 metres east of the East Coast Mainline Railway (closed public right of way) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2200hrs on Wednesday, 12 June 2024 and ending at 0600hrs on Saturday, 15 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the public right of way will only be closed between 2200hrs and 0600hrs each night during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles and pedestrians will not be signed during the works period.

(13) BRUNSWICK STREET. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Brunswick Street, York between the projected western boundaries of property No's 51 and 55 (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Thursday, 13 June 2024 and ending at 2000hrs on Friday, 14 June 2024 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Count De Burgh Terrace, Queen Victoria Street, Albemarle Road.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by ongoing works or safety concerns.
