What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

THE BOROUGH OF READING (KINGS MEADOW FOOTBRIDGE) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2024

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close Kings Meadow footbridge to all traffic and part of Footpath No.1 extending 50 metres west and 60 metres east from the footbridge. The Order will come into force from 4 June 2024 to 18 August 2024. Should the works take longer than expected the closure of the footbridge will remain in force up to a duration of 18 months and in the case of Footpath No.1 until 6 months or until the works are completed, whichever is earlier the order is necessary in the interest of public safety whilst replacing the footbridge.
