BOROUGH OF TORBAY
(CHURSTON ROAD, BRIXHAM) (PART)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that Torbay Council intends to make the above Order under the provisions of Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect will be to prohibit vehicular traffic in part of Churston Road, adjacent to South West Water pump station, under railway bridge to Bascombe Road junction.

There will be exemptions from the intended Order for vehicles used in emergency for police, fire or ambulance purposes, or used in connection with the works mentioned below, and for the conveyance of persons, goods or merchandise to or from any premises situated on or adjacent to that length of Churston Road to or from any other premises accessible for vehicles from, and only from, that length of road.

The Order is intended to be made because National Grid mains overlay works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the above length of Churston Road.

The alternative route available for traffic which will be affected by the Order is via Brixham Road, New Road, Churston Way, Copythorne Road, Bascombe Road and vice versa.

The intended Order will come into force on the 1st July 2024 and will continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the above works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that such works will take approximately five days to complete.
