Surrey - Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles
What is happening?
THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
Various Roads in the Borough of Waverley and the Borough of Guildford (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles) (No. 1) Order 202-
Surrey County Council propose to make the above named Order under Sections 1(1) and 2(1) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the purpose and effect of which will be to prohibit any heavy commercial vehicle, the maximum gross weight of which exceeds 7.5 tonnes, from entering or proceeding in the lengths of the roads in the Borough of Waverley and the Borough of Guildford specified in the Schedule to this Notice. The prohibition will not apply in relation to vehicles requiring access to premises or land in or adjacent to the roads mentioned in the Schedule to this Notice, including access for the purpose of loading and unloading. The restriction also does not apply to buses, vehicles used by the emergency services or for the purposes of essential services, works and maintenance, refuse collection, for local authority or agricultural purposes and vehicles proceeding in accordance with directions given by Surrey Police, when requiring access to the said lengths of roads.
A copy of the proposed Order, together with a Plan showing the roads to which the Order relates, a Statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order and a Statement of the Council’s Guidelines for the Acceptance of Objections to Traffic Regulation Orders may be inspected free of charge during normal opening hours at (i) Reception, Surrey Highways, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, (ii) Godalming Library, Bridge Street, Godalming, Surrey GU7 1HT, (iii) Bramley Community Library, High Street, Bramley, Surrey GU5 0HG, and (iv) Cranleigh Library, High Street, Cranleigh, Surrey GU6 8AE. The plans and the Statement of Reasons may also be viewed online at www.surreycc. gov.uk/roads-and-transport/policies-plans-consultations/roadsand- transport-consultations (follow the link to Prohibition of Heavy Goods Vehicles in Waverley and Guildford No. 1 proposal). If you wish to object to, or make representations relating to, the proposed Order, you must send the grounds for your objection or representation (including any in support) by (1) using the online form via the webpage quoted above; or (2) in writing to the undersigned at Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ by 21st June 2024.
