What is happening?
THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
Various Roads in Chaldon (20mph and 30mph Speed Limit) Order 202-
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-named Order, under section 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to (1) impose a 20 miles per hour speed limit in the lengths of roads specified and described in the First Schedule to this Notice; and (2) impose a 30 miles per hour speed limit in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Second Schedule to this Notice.
The speed limit proposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011.

First Schedule – 20mph
(1) that length of Church Lane (D1421) Chaldon as extends from its northern junction with (D1421) Doctors Lane to its junction with (B2031) Rook Lane and (D388) Hilltop Lane (2) the entire length of Doctors Lane (D1421) Chaldon (3) the entire length of Leazes Avenue (D1421) Chaldon (4) that length of Hilltop Lane (D388) Chaldon as extends from its junction with (B2031) Rook Lane and (D1421) Church Lane to its junction with Public Bridleway No.10 Chaldon (5) that length of Rook Lane (B2031) Chaldon as extends from its junction with (D1421) Church Lane and (D388) Hilltop Lane eastwards to its junction with (D1423) Mount Avenue (6) the entire length of Mount Avenue (D1423) Chaldon.
Second Schedule – 30mph
(1) that length of Rook Lane (B2031) Chaldon as extends from its junction with (D1421) Church Lane and (D388) Hilltop Lane westwards for a distance of 655 metres.
Proposed Traffic Calming Measures in Rook Lane (B2031) Chaldon
Notice is hereby given that Surrey County Council, in exercise of their powers under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Section 90(A) to (I) inclusive of the Highways Act 1980, and after consultation with the Chief Office of Police in accordance with Section 23(2)(A) of the said Act of 1984, propose to introduce a series of physical measures to improve safety and reduce vehicle speeds in Rook Lane (B2031) Chaldon. They type of physical measures and their locations are described below.
(1) a full width road table, the centre point of which will be 84.8 metres east of its junction with (D1421) Church Lane
(2) a full width road table the centre point of which will be 40.08 metres east of its junction with (X35109) Willey Broom Lane.
The proposed road tables will measure 75 millimetres in height and 10 metres overall in length with a 7.75 metre flat top and 1.125 metre ramps at a gradient of 1:15
(3) a pair of speed cushions, the centre point of which will be 27.79 metres east of its junction with (D1421) Church Lane
(4) a pair of speed cushions, the centre point of which will be 26.15 metres east of its junction with the access to “St Peter and St Paul C of E Infant School”
(5) a pair of speed cushions, the centre point of which will be 26.37 metres east of its junction with (D1421) Doctors Lane
(6) a pair of speed cushions, the centre point of which will be 128.46 metres east of its junction with (D1421) Doctors Lane.
The proposed speed cushions will be flat-topped and will measure 75 millimetres in height, 3.1 metres in length and 1.7 metres wide with 600 millimetre long ramps at a gradient of 1:8.
