What is happening?
Temporary Closure of Unnamed Road, Nether Compton
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 3rd June 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14 June 2024.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.
[1] To impose temporary road closure on Unnamed Road, Nether Compton from junction with New Road to junction with A30 Dual Carriageway (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1860 metres. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections. Please note the closures will be in operation, as and when indicated by signs on site. Advanced warning signs will be placed on the road two weeks advance of the closure to indicate the exact dates the closure will affect the roads.
[2] To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along Unnamed Road, Nether Compton from junction with New Road to junction with A30 Dual Carriageway (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1860 metres.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Notice will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1000.
Temporary Closure of Cornford Hill, Holwell
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Cornford Hill, Holwell, Sherborne at Cornford Bridge (in both directions), a distance of approximately 20 metres.
The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
It will come into operation on 10 June 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 21 June 2024.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out bridge repairs at Cornford Bridge.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath N64/78, Gillingham
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath N64/78, Gillingham from grid reference ST820251 to grid reference ST817253, a distance of approximately 320 metres.
The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 11 June 2024 for a period of 26 weeks, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This closure is required to allow Redrow Homes to carry out housing development construction works.

Temporary Traffic Management Order of Various Roads, Gillingham
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 17 May 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months and canbe extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed between 9 July 2024 - 22 July 2024.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway surfacing works.
The effect of this Order is as follows:
[i] To impose a temporary road closure on: Cole Street Lane and Common Mead Lane as indicated by signs on site.
[ii] To impose a clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along Cole Street Lane and Common Mead Lane.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. Please note that the dates are a window of opportunity and the road may not be closed for the whole duration stated above and the works are weather dependant.
