Horsham Road (A24) Beare Green - Introduction of 30mph Speed Limit Order 2024

What is happening?

soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 11 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Alternative Route – D1224 Park Lane East, D1302 Crescent Road, D1303 Alexander Road and C223 Prices Lane.

Horsham Road (A24) Beare Green Temporary 30mph Speed Limit Order 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to – (a) impose a 30mph speed limit, on both the northbound and southbound carriageway of Horsham Road (A24) Beare Green, that length of which extends from the junction of Old Horsham Road to the junction of St Austells Place and any parts thereof; and (b) suspend the Order imposing a 50mph speed limit on the length of A24 Horsham Road as specified in sub-paragraph (a) above. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate embankment works and/or repair works near Bregsells Bridge, which is anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 15 June 2024. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary speed limit will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. The speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 or in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of the Police.

Oxshott Road (A244) and Oaklawn Road (C131) Leatherhead Temporary (Suspension) Order 2024
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to suspend “Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Oxshott, Cobham, and Leatherhead (Experimental Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles) Order 2023”, as amended, only insofar as it relates to – (a) that length of Oxshott Road (A244) Leatherhead as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (A243) Kingston Road to its junction with (C131) Oaklawn Road; and (b) the entire length of Oaklawn Road (C131) Leatherhead. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate major maintenance works being carried out on or near the said roads, which is anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 12 June 2024. 
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary suspension of the Order will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed and to the extent indicated by those signs. Public Footpaths 161, 162 & 628 (Bletchingley) Temporary Stopping Up Order 2024
The above Order was made on 14 May 2024. The effect of the order will be to temporarily stop up public footpaths 161,163 & 628 (Bletchingley) as shown on the order map. The stopping up is necessary for the applicant to continue and complete the extraction of silica sand in accordance with planning permission granted by Surrey County Council (SCC ref: 2020/434 & RE20/00463/CON.) 
The Footpaths will be reinstated to their original alignments on completion and final restoration of the site.
The alternative route for traffic from the northern end of the closure of Footpath 628 will be: proceed south west along Footpath 161 for 420 metres to the junction of Bridleway 165 and Footpath 629, then south east then south along Footpath 629 for a distance of 470 metres to the junction of Footpaths 628, 629 and 162. The alternative route for traffic from the southern end of the closure of Footpath 628 will be the reverse of the route described above. 
There are no alternative routes for Footpaths 161 and 163.

A copy of this notice may also be viewed on the County Council website www.surreycc.gov.uk. Copies of the Order and Map may be bought from the County Council at the price of £4.

Any representation about or objection to the Order may be sent or delivered in writing addressed to the Countryside Access Team (quoting reference DW/AW/3/1/21) at Whitebeam Lodge, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ, or by email to rightsofway@surreycc.gov.uk not later than 24 June 2024. Please state the grounds on which it is made. If no representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Surrey County Council may itself confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
