What is happening?
THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MIDDLESBROUGH
(VARIOUS LOCATIONS) SPEED LIMIT ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough have made the above Speed Limit Order under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which shall restrict vehicles to a speed not exceeding 20 mph on the lengths of road specified in Part 1 of the Schedule hereto and to amend the provisions of the Orders listed in Part 2 of the Schedule hereto. Exemptions to the proposed provisions will be permitted for vehicles used in connection with the emergency services whist on active duty.
The Order together with a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, plans and copies of the orders listed in Part 2 of the Schedule may be examined at www.middlesbrough.gov.uk and at Newport Community Hub, St Pauls Rd, Middlesbrough TS1 5NQ between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Thursday (excluding bank holidays).
If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with that person may, within six weeks from the date of this notice apply for that purpose to the High Court. SCHEDULE
Part 1: Roads Restricted to 20 mph
The full lengths of Brunswick Street, College Road (part that runs parallel to the main College Road, leading to Hatherley Court and Tomlinson Way), Ferndale Court, Hanson Grove, Hatherley Court, Tomlinson Way and Zetland Road. Station Street from its junction with Zetland Road for a distance of approximately 8 metres in a westerly direction.
Part 2: Amendments to Existing Orders
1. The part of the Schedule of The Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough (Various Locations) 20mph Speed Limit Order 2023 which refers to Roman Road will be amended to read as follows: Roman Road from a point approximately 5 metres north of its junction with the northern kerb line of Queens Road to a point approximately 23 metres south of its junction with the southern kerb line of St. Barnabas Road.
2. Part 3: “Roads Restricted to 40 mph” of the Schedule
of The Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough (Various Speed Limits) Traffic Regulation Order 2021 will be amended to read as follows: Brass Castle Lane from a point approximately 140 metres to the south of its junction with Fulford Way to its junction with B1365 Stokesley Road, a distance of approximately 2,140 metres.
