What is happening?
SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL SECTION 14 - THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 NOTICE OF TRAFFIC ORDERS FOR TEMPORARY ROAD AND FOOTPATH CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS
Notice is given that SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL made the following orders:
(STR000830 THE PLANKS, SWINDON)
This Order is being introduced to allow THAMES WATER works and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on Old Mill Lane and The Planks outside No. 3 The Planks. Traffic to be diverted via The Weavers and The Planks. Order effective from the 17 June 2024 for 6 months but it is expected the closure is only in place until the 21 June 2024.
(STR000829 RODBOURNE ROAD, SWINDON)
This Order is being introduced to allow Network Rail carry out abridge inspection and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on Rodbourne Road at the railway bridge situated between Dean Street and Penzance Drive. Traffic to be diverted via B4289 Westcott Place, A3102 Wootten Bassett Road to Mannington Roundabout, B4006 Great Western Way to thehe Meads Roundabout, B4006 Great Western Way to Bruce Street, Kemble Drive and vice versa. Order effective from the 10 June 2024 for 18 months but it is expected the closure will be phased with the first closure to carry out inspection works to take place between 10 to 14 June 2024.

This Order is being introduced to allow CARRIAGEWAY works and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on Elcombe between A4361 Church Hill and B4005 Wharf Road. Traffic to be diverted via A4361 Church Hill, Hay Lane and B4005 Wharf Road. Order effective from the force on the 10 June 2024 for 18 months with works being phased but it is expected the first closure for investigation works will take place between 10 to 14 June 2024.
(STR000839 PONTING STREET, SWINDON)
This Order is being introduced to allow CARRIAGEWAY works and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and parking on Ponting Street between Manchester Road and Broad Street. Traffic to be diverted via Manchester Road, Alfred Street, Gladstone Street, Broad Street and vice versa. Order effective from the 10 June 2024 for 18 months but it expected the works will be phased with the first closure expected to take place between 10 to 14 June 2024 to allow for investigations.
(STR000842 MILL LANE, WICHELSTOWE)
This Order is being introduced to allow RESURFACING works and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on Mill Lane between both junctions with Chaddington Strand. Works to be phased and during day time hours to allow access to Chaddington Strand. Order effective from the force on the 24 June 2024 for 6 months but it expected the works to take place between 24 to 26 June
2024.
(STR000838 OMDURMAN STREET, SWINDON)
This Order is being introduced to allow CARRIAGEWAY works and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and parking on Omdurman Street. Traffic to be diverted via adjacent alleyway as directed. Order effective from the force on the 10 June 2024 for 18 months butit expected the works will be phased with the first closure expected to take place between 10 to 14 June 2024 to allow for investigations.
(STR000844 ORCHID CLOSE, PENHILL)
This Order is being introduced on health and safety grounds due to construction and will impose a closure of PROW Bridleway CN3 known as Orchid Close. Alternative route - Via Whitworth Road, Crossways Avenue, Inglesham Road, Winterslow Road and the footpath which runs through Sevenfields. Order effective from the force on the 24 June 2024 for 6 months but it is expected works will be completed by the 5 July 2024.
(STR000848 TADPOLE LANE, SWINDON)
This Order is being introduced for CARRIAGEWAY works and will impose a restriction on driving on the Tadpole Lane from the roundabout junction with Oakhurst Way to the borough boundary. Traffic to be diverted via Tadpole Lane, B4553 to the junction with The Pry, B4553 Cowleaze to Mead Way/ Purton Road junction roundabout, B4534 Purton Road north-eastbound, A4198 Thamesdown, Oakhurst Way and vice versa. Order effective from the 17 June 2024 for 6 months but it is expected the road closure is only required until the 24 June 2024.
(STR000849 B4198 THAMESDOWN DRIVE, SWINDON)
This Order is being introduced for CARRIAGEWAY works and will impose a restriction on driving on the Thamesdown Drive (north eastbound) carriageway between the roundabout junctions with Oakhurst Way and Redhouse Way. Traffic to be diverted via Purton Road, Moredon Road, Whitworth Road, A4311 Cricklade Road and vice versa. Order effective from the 17 June 2024 for 6 months but it is expected the road closure is only required until the 24 June 2024. (STR000854 SALISBURY STREET, SWINDON)
This Order is being introduced to allow Wales and West Utilities to install a gas connection and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on Salisbury Street at the junction with Broad Street. Traffic to be diverted via Broad Street, Gladstone Street and Bathurst Road. Order effective from the 20 May 2024 for 6 months but it is expected the closure is only in place until the 24 May 2024.
