TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDERS
Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Wight Council has made following Orders under Section 14 (1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH V99, ST LAWRENCE, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2024
The Isle of Wight Council give notice that from 0900 hours on Thursday 16 May 2024 for six months or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed along the part of Public Footpath V99 between its junctions with Public Footpath V124 at Binnel Bay and Public Footpaths V94 / V97 A/98 at Woody Bay. The closure is necessary in the interests of public safety. The alternative route during the period of closure will be Undercliff Drive.
Notice is hereby given that the following Orders continue to be in force: -
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH BS1), SHEPHERDS CHINE, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 29 May 2025 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed along the Public Footpath BS1 between its junctions with path SW25 and its junction with the path BS2 (this includes the beach access steps). The closure is necessary in the interests of public safety due to unsafe beach access steps and landslips. The alternative route during the period of closure will be path BS2, Military Road and path SW25
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH BS58), GRANGE CHINE, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 29 May 2025 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed along Public Footpath BS58 between its junctions with path BS57 and its junction with the path BS17. The closure is necessary in the interests of public safety due to a missing footbridge. The alternative route during the period of closure will be path BS17, Military Road and path BS57
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH BS69 & PERMISSIVE PATH REAR OF BRIGHSTONE HOLIDAY CENTRE, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2024
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 9 July 2025 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed along Public Footpath BS69 & the permissive path rear of Brighstone Holiday Centre between its junctions with Public Footpath BS57 and Military Road. The closure is necessary because of the likelihood of danger to the public (landslips). The alternative route during the period of closure will be Military Road.
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (VARIOUS PUBLIC FOOTPATHS, GURNARD / THORNESS, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 29 May 2025 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any Pedestrian to proceed along the Public Footpaths CS16/17 & CB24 (part) between their junction with Rew Street and with their junction with CB29. During the period of closure, the alternative route will be Rew Street and then Public Footpaths CS3, CB23, CB1. The closure is necessary due to the landslip along the midway point.
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH GL62 (PART), GODSHILL, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 29 May 2026 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed along the part of Public Footpath GL62 between its junctions with Church Hill and its junction with the steps up to the Church on the High Street side. The closure is necessary in the interests of public safety due to a collapse of a retaining wall. The alternative route during the period of closure will be Church Hollow and Church Hill.
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY N203, ROWRIDGE, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS, EQUESTRIANS & CYCLISTS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 29 May 2025 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian, equestrian or cyclist to proceed along Public Bridleway N203 between its junction with Rowridge Lane and its junction with paths CB21 /BS6. The closure is necessary in the interests of public safety due to a landslip. The alternative route during the period of closure will be public rights of way N198, N136a, N139, BS4 & BS6.
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH S3, HAMSTEAD, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 13 June 2026 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed along the Public Footpath S3 between its junctions with path S32 at Hamstead Farm and its junction with path S28 at Lower Hamstead. The closure is necessary in the interests of public safety due to unsafe damaged wooden boardwalks. There is no alternative route during the period of closure.
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH T34 (PART), COLWELL, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 30 May 2026 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any Pedestrian to proceed along the part of Public Footpath T34 between its junctions with the landslip south of Warden Ledge and a point approximately 250 meters south of Colwell Chine Road. During the period of closure, the alternative route will be Colwell Chine Road, Public Footpaths, T1, T2 and Madeira Road. The closure is necessary due works on the path.
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY V24, ST MARTINS DOWN, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS, EQUESTRIANS & CYCLISTS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 30 May 2025 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian, equestrian or cyclist to proceed along Public Bridleway V24 between its junctions with path V23 and its junction with path V25/V26. The closure is necessary in the interests of public safety due to landslip. The alternative route during the period of closure will be bridleways V23, V22, V21 Middle Barn Lane, and bridleways V27 and V26/ V25.
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH V30, WROXALL, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 30 May 2025 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed along the Public Footpath V30 between its junctions with path Castle Road and its junction with the path V23/V33. The closure is necessary in the interests of public safety due to a landslip. The alternative route during the period of closure will be paths V31, V32 and V33.
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH V65C (PART), DEVILS CHIMNEY, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 25 August 2026 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier, no person shall cause any Pedestrian to proceed along Public Footpath V124 between its junction with Undercliff Drive for a length of approximately 180 meters. The closure is required due to the likelihood of danger to the public (landslips).
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (VARIOUS PUBLIC FOOTPATHS, BONCHURCH LANDSLIP, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 29 May 2026 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed along the following paths:
V65a/V65b A/67 paths through the land known as Bonchurch landslip.
V66 & V65d between Bonchurch Shute and the landslip paths.
The closure is necessary in the interests of public safety due to landslips and ground movement. The alternative route during the period of closure will be Path V65, Leeson Road and Bonchurch Shute.
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (VARIOUS PUBLIC FOOTPATHS, BONCHURCH LANDSLIP, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2024
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 09 July 2026 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed along following Public Footpaths within the area known as Bonchurch Landslip:
SS2 (part) between path V65a and the driveway to Rosecliff Lodge.
V65 between Leeson Road and the landslip paths at SS2A/65a.
The closure is necessary because of the likelihood of danger to the public (road closure due to landslips). There is no alternative route.
THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNCIL (PUBLIC FOOTPATH V93A, ORCHARD BAY, ISLE OF WIGHT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION PEDESTRIANS) ORDER NO 1 2023
The Isle of Wight Council gives notice that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved an extension of the above order until 30 May 2025 or when the work has been completed, whichever is the sooner, no person shall cause any pedestrian to proceed along the Public Footpath V93a between its junctions with path V93 and its junction with the beach. The closure is necessary in the interests of public safety due to unsafe beach access steps. There is no alternative route during the period of closure.
