Dorset, Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Traffic Restrictions due to Works.
What is happening?

Temporary Traffic Management Order, Parishes of Puncknowle and Swyre
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 20 May 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed between 21 June 2024 and 04 July 2024.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway surface dressing works.
The effect of the Order is as follows:
[1] To impose a temporary road closure on the following roads as indicated by signs on site; Puncknowle Road - Swyre Road -Litton Lane.
[2] To impose a parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent parking on the highway along; Puncknowle Road - Swyre Road - Litton Lane.
[3] To impose a clearway as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting on the highway along; Puncknowle Road - Swyre Road - Litton Lane.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. Please note that the dates are a window of opportunity, and the road may not be closed for the whole duration stated above and the works are weather dependant.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Traffic Management Order of Chickerell Road, Weymouth
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 22 May 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 6 June 2024. Please note the works will be carried out between 2000hrs and 0600hrs.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out essential highway maintenance works.
The effects of this Order will be:
[1] To impose temporary road closure on Chickerell Road from its junction with Abbotsbury Road for a distance of approximately 525 metres in a westerly direction.
[2] To impose temporary road closure on Chickerell Road between no. 429 & no. 481.
[3] To impose temporary clearway on Chickerell Road from its junction with Abbotsbury Road for a distance of approximately 525 metres in a westerly direction to prevent vehicles from stopping except those associated with the works.
[4] To impose temporary clearway on Chickerell Road between no. 429 & no. 481 to prevent vehicles from stopping except those associated with the works.
Please note that any vehicle waiting in contravention of temporary parking restrictions may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. If a vehicle has been removed, the owner must contact the Council's vehicle recovery contractor: Ashleywood Recovery Ltd/Bride Valley Recovery Ltd on 01305 889421.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 24 May 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months. However, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 13 September 2024.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out surface dressing works.
The effect of this Order is as follows:
[1] To impose temporary road closure on Knighton Lane from its north junction with the A352 to Broadmayne First School.
[2] To impose temporary road closure on Highgate Lane from its junction with Knighton Lane to its junction with West Stafford bypass.
[3] To impose temporary clearway on Knighton Lane from its north junction with the A352 to Broadmayne First School to prevent vehicles stopping except those associated with the works.
[4] To impose temporary clearway on Highgate Lane from its junction with Knighton Lane to its junction with West Stafford bypass to prevent vehicles stopping except those associated with the works.
Any vehicle in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. If a vehicle has been towed the owner will need to contact our towing contractors Ashleywood Recovery Ltd/Bride Valley Recovery Ltd on 01305 889421.

[2] To impose temporary clearway on Herringston Road from its junction with Maumbury Road to the road bridge over the A35 to prevent vehicles stopping except those associated with the works.
Any vehicle in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. Temporary Closure of Public Footpaths 92 & 130, Weymouth
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Various Footpaths, Weymouth as listed:
[i] Footpath S1/92, from grid reference SY 660 783 to grid reference SY 663 783 a distance of approximately 300 metres;
[ii] Footpath S1/130 from SY662537 to SY662557 a distance of approximately 30 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
It will come into operation on 24 May 2024 until 3 November 2024, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This Order is required due to health and safety reasons whilst a residential development is constructed.

Temporary Closure of A354 Thornicombe Hill, Thornicombe
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along A354 Thornicombe Hill, Thornicombe from junction with C6 to a point 400 metres to the north of Littleton Drove (in both directions), an overall distance of approximately 3080 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation between 09:00 until 16:00 on 3 June 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 13 June 2024. This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 11 June 2024 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 24 June 2024.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.
The effect of this notice is as follows:
[1] To impose temporary road closure on C79, Bere Regis between from junction with C6 to Snatford Bridge (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1210 metres. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections. Please note the closures will be in operation, as and when indicated by signs on site. Advanced warning signs will be placed on the road two weeks advance of the closure to indicate the exact dates the closure will affect the roads.
[2] To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along C79, Bere Regis between from junction with C6 to Snatford Bridge (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1210 metres. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
