(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A69 Trunk Road, in the City of Newcastle, to enable routine maintenance works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to take place on Saturday 18 May 2024 and Saturday 13 July 2024, between 7pm and 6am. However, if necessary, the works will continue between the same times over subsequent Saturday nights until the works are completed.

The effect of the Order will be, at times during the works, to close the A69:

(i) eastbound carriageway from exit slip road at West Denton Interchange to the entry slip road at Denton Burn Interchange, a distance of 1500 metres;

(ii) westbound carriageway from the entry slip road at Denton Burn Interchange to the entry slip road at West Denton Interchange, a distance of 1500 metres;

(iii) eastbound entry and westbound exit slip roads at West Denton Interchange;

(iv) layby adjacent to the eastbound carriageway approximately 420 metres west of the entry slip road at Denton Burn Interchange;

(v) laybys adjacent to the westbound carriageway approximately 370 metres and 500 metres west of the exit slip road at Denton Burn Interchange; and

(vi) bus stop areas adjacent to the above mentioned (i), (ii) and (iii).

It will be necessary to ban vehicles from entering or leaving the above mentioned (i) and (ii).

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works, to anyone engaged in the said works or for winter maintenance).

The Order comes into force on 17 May 2024 and will expire on 22 December 2024.
