What is happening?

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The A406 GLA Roads (London Boroughs Of Enfield And Waltham Forest) (Temporary 40 Mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it has made the above-named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable highway lining and signage works to take place on the roads listed in Article 3 below in the London Boroughs of Enfield and Waltham Forest.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

(1) exceeding a speed of 40 MPH on the eastbound carriageway of the A406 North Circular Road, Sterling Way, Angel Road, Lea Valley Viaduct and Southend Road between a point 5 metres northeast of the extended north-eastern building line of No.229 North Circular Road, Southgate and a point 20 metres the extended southern building line of No.1 Shadbolt Avenue;

(1) exceeding a speed of 40 MPH on the westbound carriageway of the A406 Southend Road, Lea Valley Viaduct, Angel Road, Sterling Way and North Circular Road between a point 20 metres north of a point opposite the extended northern building line of No.1 Shadbolt Avenue and a point 5 metres south-west of the extended common boundary of Nos.206 and 208 North Circular Road, Southgate.

Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.

The Order will be effective at certain times from between 20th May 2024 and the 20th August 2024 every night 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
