Southgate - Temporary Traffic Regulation
What is happening?
THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
SECTION 14 (1) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION
OF THROUGH TRAFFIC
SOUTHGATE, MARKET WEIGHTON
Notice is hereby given that East Riding of Yorkshire
Council intends not less than seven days from the date
of this notice to make an Order, the effect of which
will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along
Southgate, Market Weighton during the following
periods:
• Phase 1: (Sundays only) between 48 Southgate and
Swales Drive. Sunday 2 June 2024, Sunday 9 June
2024, Sunday 16 June 2024 (working hours
17.00 hours - 23.00 hours).
• Phase 2: between the mini roundabout and 48
Southgate commencing Tuesday 11 June 2024 until
Wednesday 19 June 2024 (working hours
18.00 hours - 23.00 hours).
• Phase 3: between Swales Drive and the junction with
Cliffe Road commencing Thursday 20 June 2024 until
Wednesday 10 July 2024 (working hours
09.00 hours - 17.00 hours).
The road closures are necessary to enable the
carriageway resurfacing/footway works to be carried
out in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of
the public.
The Order is valid for 18 months, but it is anticipated
that the works will be completed within six weeks.
The alternative routes for traffic affected by the road
closures will be via High Street, Market Place, Holme
Road, Holme Road Roundabout, Giant Bradley Way,
Sancton Road Roundabout and Sancton Road.
The diversion routes will be signed at the time of
closures. The roads will be closed to all traffic but
access will be maintained for emergency vehicles,
residents and pedestrians. Further information can
